Okay, this is a post for the PhD parents🫣
After zooming out (offline) all afternoon (and drive our parents crazy)…
The siblings are just having too much fun catching up @TabethaSpiteri 🫢😬
But honestly, blame the NZ snacks 🍪
They are way too yum (distracting)🫢

Growing a bit tired of the LNP bullshit that poor, naive-but-honest Gladys was duped by a predatory, moustache-twirling villain. It’s 2023, not 1823.

Between annual review, progress toward tenure review, P&T review, and post tenure review, you’ll spend 20% of your career reviewing why your colleagues aren’t getting more research done - while at the same time not getting your own research done as determined by peer review.

Important to remember the sequence:
1. Gladys is investigated by ICAC
2. Gladys resigns
3. ICAC hearing
4. ICAC finds Gladys engaged in serious corrupt conduct.
Just to keep in mind while the “she was hounded from office” chorus plays out.

Wonderful to hear @TabethaSpiteri from @MonashEducation discussing how girls' #STEM identity develops in primary school at #ASERA54.

Labor wouldn't guarantee a cent in the HAFF.
Then, Greens pressure got $500m guaranteed from 2024-25.
Then, Labor said they can't fund housing upfront.
Now, $2bn starts next week.
Today, Labor says they can't freeze rent increases.
Everything's impossible until it's not.

Your ability to go out and buy things with your wage is the same it was in September 2010...
The collapse of real wages clearly shows wages are NOT driving inflation

Santos, one of Australia's biggest gas companies, has had their after-tax profits go up 221%.
Labor just gave Santos approval for another 116 new gas wells.
Gas is killing the planet, and making a few people very, very rich.
We need to stop new coal and gas.

Conservatives want smaller government, so instead of outright banning abortion, they "left it up to the states". Pshh, that's not small enough government, still too liberal. A REAL conservative would leave it up to the county. The town. The household. The woman, even.

Why are ethics questions always like:
"is it ethical to steal bread to feed your starving family?"
And not:
"is it ethical to hoard bread when families are starving?"

We're entering the best week of the year, The Void. Between now and NYE time doesn't matter, it's irrelevant, noone knows what day it is, and no reasonable person wants anything from anyone else. Everyone is off the hook. The empty space at the end of all the normal weeks. Bliss

“Oh so you’re ok with Nazis and white supremacists getting banned but you’re NOT ok with journalists getting banned???” is a real burn, provided you’re so hooked on the both-sides narrative that you no longer realize you’re treating Nazis and journalists as equal values.

Corporate profits only accounted for roughly 11% of price growth from 1979 to 2019.
Today, record corporate profits account for 53.9% of price increases.
Folks, corporate greed is driving inflation, not workers asking for better wages.

The conservative UK government has just abandoned their tax cuts for the rich.
Labor must drop their tax cuts for the rich too.
