Not sure the ancient Greeks never came up with this but a nation ruled by assholes would be a "proctocracy"

I have to think that Republicans have just decided that their base is assholes and so they need to inflame their assholes into getting out the vote
ok. this is an actual endorsement of the Vivek ad, unlike his earlier line that he was upset that republicans were upset with the ad. Can't really believe that they're attaching themselves to this thing.

While the people running these frauds are obviously the ones to blame, I think we should all look much harder and more critically at the willfully credulous media, who go hunt for data to support their priors while also being too lazy to do any vetting of their sources
It's pretty galling that this election cycle we've had two *explicitly* fake polling shops that juuuuust so happened to have the same bias (overstated progressive), and when they got caught they both tried the same excuse of "we were actually a social experiment"

It's a running joke that places like Data For Progress exist to create polls that confirm the sponsors' priors, but at least we know who runs DFP. We knew nothing about Wedgewood/Median and every political journo lapped up their bullshit bc it pushed their narrative forward

So while we're on the topic of 'fraud'....remember when that Umichvoter guy and Keith Edwards (among others) posted a 'rumor' the night before the primary election that said Haley Stevens pollsters told her the campaign had 'no path to victory?' Did any of the people involved ever explain how/why that happened? Because it sure seemed like a transparent attempt to suppress voters, the night before the primary...
So uhh this was very obviously completely made up out of whole cloth to depress enthusiasm/turnout for Stevens, right?

I have been trying to think of what Trump’s hideous “ballroom” project reminds me of — and I finally have it — it is Nicolai Ceausescu’s infamous and unfinished House of the People in communist Romania, which also brought awfulness to a lovely downtown. It features a huge ballroom with niches for portraits of the dictator and his wife and a sliding roof so that a helicopter can enter and exit. The building also had a nuclear bunker. The aesthetic sense of the two men is much the same but Trump’s construction will probably be even worse.

Let's be clear about the GOP -Max Miller (OH-07) is accused of domestic violence, including pouring boiling water on his wife and breaking his 2-year-old daughter's collar bone. Max Miller is accused of breaking the bone of a two-year-old. Let that sink in. -Meanwhile Vivek Ramaswamy is running for Governor of Ohio--the same state--and is platforming the abuser of his opponent in order to undermine her. The abuser in this case is the child's mother, who covered up the rape of her own child. -Then, in Kansas, Roger Marshall is running for Senate after he actively fought to imprison more than 100 of his female OB-GYN patients, successfully jailing 81. Including for not being able to foot $100 for their own hysterectomies & other care. Breaking the bones of children. Abusing women. Weaponizing child molestation. Platforming those who cover-up child molestation. Imprisoning vulnerable women whose bodies you've operated on. That's the Republican party we're facing. Get. Out. The. Vote.

Trump was heckled back-to-back in Kansas after once again claiming protesters are being paid to disrupt his events. One heckler had a pretty direct response: “I do it for free, I don’t fucking like you!”

Every election the left is presented with the world's easiest trolley problem, and every time they smirk and go "the trolley shouldn't exist" and then walk away.
Americans really believe that if they protest “respectfully”, vote hard, and switch up political parties every so often, the most powerful, warmongering, ruthless empire in existence will relinquish its power to them. This is why they are the most propagandized people on Earth.

As one of the candidates featured in these polls - the infamous one in late June that showed me plummeting into single digits (which was at odds with our internals) - here's the impact of this "experiment" - Donations dried up - Volunteers were devastated and pleading for guidance on what to do - Reporters hounded me with calls to drop out Sure, a point was proven. Polling is broken. But tens of thousands of people poured their hearts, time, energy, hard-earned money into something they believed in - for a year-and-a-half, and it was treated like a game. Our volunteers gave their all. And then some. I felt like I had let so many of them down. To be extremely clear, Michigan Democrats are locked in to beat Mike Rogers. We WILL send @AbdulElSayed to the US Senate. But between crap like this, endless fundraising texts that drive supporters away with spammy fake deadlines and trash "match" claims, scam PACs run rampant for firms to grift without actually supporting candidates, undisclosed content creators pushing content out either misrepresenting themselves as residents of states they don't live in or hiding whether they were paid and by who so they could make a buck, and the tidal wave of dark money ads -- I hope Democrats are ready to blow up the system with campaign finance and transparency reforms. Trust is already at an all-time low. We don't get out of this mess without rebuilding trust. And media - who loves to ride the drama of a pollercoaster - needs to take a hard look at what's legitimate and what's not. If this teaches us anything - DON'T GET COMPLACENT AND DON'T TRUST THE POLLS. LOCK IN. SIGN UP FOR A CANVASSING SHIFT. LEAVE NOTHING TO CHANCE OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.

“If we don’t win, there’s no money” Conditioning faithful execution of the law on election support is the basic definition of government corruption. Even Republican voters know that isn’t how the American system is supposed to work. He’s doing this at every rally in every state.

Beyond the cruel offensiveness, Republicans used to think it was a good thing, maybe even a great thing, that people in struggling countries would leave them and come to the "Land of Opportunity." They didn't think Cubans and Vietnamese were Cubanizing and Vietnamizing the US.
Trump, speaking in the Oval Office, calls Somalia "a real shithouse."

I don’t care what side of the aisle you’re on, nobody should support this kind of deception. They created a fake pamphlet to spark trans outrage and sent it to every home in Texas. Then their paid shills continued the outrage on social media. Politics is broken.
Hey Texas, you know that fake trans mailer that went out to hundreds of thousands of Texans today? The one that the org itself didn’t send? But that all the right wing influencers received & had social media posts ready to publish where they feign outrage? /1

Call it what it is. Sabotage. The White House sabotaged another country’s ability to defend itself.
We suspected this was the reason Ukraine’s access to Starshield was restricted. But to see it from senior officials in this reporting is still utterly unconscionable. Let’s be absolutely clear about what this means. The Trump Administration deliberately restricted technology Ukraine relies on to intercept Russian drones and ballistic missiles. It made it harder for Ukraine to defend itself and easier for Russia to carry out its deadly attacks against Ukrainian civilians. They knew exactly what was at stake. They knew that more Russian drones and missiles would get through, allowing Russia to kill even more Ukrainians. And yet they went ahead anyway. This is a deliberate weaking of Ukraine’s defenses that only Russia will benefit from. It is a betrayal of our ally that this Administration cannot wash its hands of. The American people deserve to know who made this decision, why they made it, and how they can possibly justify putting more innocent Ukrainian lives in the crosshairs of Putin’s war machine. reuters.com/world/europe/ord…

Biden would go to the WH Press Room and say good things about a jobs report or wage growth and it would trigger days of HE'S OUT OF TOUCH WITH ORDINARY AMERICANS stories in the press. Trump says shit like this while the economy's in the toilet and it's crickets.

.@amyactonoh on Vivek Ramaswamy's abhorrent campaign ad: "I won't normalize somebody who has said that my childhood is 'something I'm just complaining about,' who today, just released an ad using my birth mother, who I was removed from at the age of 12 for severe abuse and neglect and sexual abuse... The words our leaders use matter and I think it's gonna take courage right now from all of us to stop normalizing this sort of rhetoric."

Trump's real magic sauce is his ability to get rather dumb people from various factions to think they are also in on the scam.

Sean, I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that your ancestors weren't slaves. The good news is that means you're descended from people who signed a contract, worked it off, and then went on to complain about it for 300 years, which is the most Irish thing I've ever heard. Indentured servitude was a term of years, not a lifetime, and not inherited by your kids. The people doing the hiring were English and Scottish Protestant planters, not a shadowy Jewish syndicate. The “Irish slave” thing is a meme that was debunked so thoroughly by an actual Irish historian (Liam Hogan) that it comes with its own Snopes entry, its own Wikipedia page, and apparently its own Community Note on your post. You've been fact-checked by the ghosts of Limerick. Also, the logic here is incredible. “Bad things happened to my group, therefore I've decided bigotry is fine now” is not a moral position, it's a loyalty card. Collect ten historical grievances and your eleventh hate is free.
My Irish ancestors were slaves bought and sold by Jewish people. And you expect me to care about antisemitism?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Irish people sent to the Americas were primarily indentured servants under temporary contracts, not chattel slaves. No historical evidence supports claims they were bought and sold by Jewish people; this relies on the debunked Irish slaves myth. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_sla… snopes.com/fact-check/iri… apnews.com/article/920e1c…

Republicans are going to keep producing disgusting, rake-stepping bullshit like this because a not insignificant portion of their staff (and candidates) are antisocial freaks whose brains have been totally poisoned by the worst discord servers you can imagine
Amy Acton's brother slams Vivek Ramaswamy featuring her estranged mother in a campaign ad. "After he was arrested and Amy and I were removed from their custody, our birth mother stayed married to Amy’s rapist until he died. This desperate, disgusting attack reveals exactly who Vivek Ramaswamy is at his core – a pathetic excuse for a man who is willing to hurt anyone as long as it gets him what he wants."

Someone who over his lifetime has been in a lot of court proceedings may not realize that there are other words for "speaking on behalf of"
Classic dementia symptom from Trump. He can’t remember the word “campaigning” and keeps repeating the word “testifying” in its place. He’s at 30% brain function.
