Just want to know the answer~
Confocal experts: who is credited with the first confocal microscope with a scanning mirror (instead of stage scanning, like Minsky and others)?
I reckon Tony Wilson and Colin Sheppard were involved early on, but who put a scanning mirror on it first?
CC @HeintzmannLab
Very interesting. The same question has also bothered me for years. Glad to see someone eventually decided to treat it seriously.
Help us resolve a paradox, argue with Einstein, and make fluorescence microscopy a thousand times brighter.
Ask your favorite physicist:
"What direction does stimulated emission travel from a pointlike emitter?"
Our answer: andrewgyork.github.io/stimul…

Look Forward to the combination of deep learning and STED!

What is expansion microscopy and how does it work? Click to expand. bit.ly/2J6HbqQ

ALT 1. Apply chemical agent to tissue to preserve cell structure & any fluorescent proteins. Add fluorescent antibodies to detect proteins of interest. 2. Add Acryloyl-X which binds to the tissue's lysines & anchors them to the gel as it forms. 3. Form gel matrix throughout sample & add proteinase-K which digests proteins into fragments so they are able to expand. 4. Add water which washes out salt to drive expansion.
