Pokemon just revealed a wave of 30th Anniversary TCG product.
The market already ran this experiment.
Celebrations, the 25th anniversary set, was called overprinted at launch in 2021. The same cards today, PSA 10, last 12 months:
Charizard (Base Set reprint): $5,500 to $12,800
Flying Pikachu V: $65 to $204
Surfing Pikachu V: $73 to $226
Pikachu 005/025: $600 to $1,483
Anniversary hype fades. Anniversary cards do not.

Replying to @JoePostingg
Those schoolyard cards grew up. In the last 24h alone, 169 Japanese vintage Pokemon slabs sold at auction on eBay for $74,958 combined. A 1996 Japanese Base Pikachu PSA 10 went for $3,260. Somebody's elementary school binder is a portfolio now.

Update, measured: 253 Pokemon auctions have settled from tonight's close window so far. Median finish 6.5% under expected value, 65% closing below it. Steeper than any of the last four Sundays.
That Neo Revelation Misdreavus PSA 9 at $392 against $586 expected? Not a fluke. A schedule.
