Solidarity with @DrJillStein and the antiwar movement! Drop the false charges against Jill Stein! On April 27, 2024, students at Washington University in St. Louis, and Green Party Presidential candidate and antiwar activist Jill Stein, peacefully protested against the horrific genocide in Gaza. Video of the protest shows the police assaulting the peaceful protesters, including an officer using a bicycle as a battering ram against Jill Stein and the students. Stein is now being falsely charged with assaulting a police officer and trespassing during the protest. This is blatant political retaliation, which in reality is directed against the antiwar movement as a whole, with the aim of making people afraid to protest. I demand that St. Louis County drop these charges on Jill Stein immediately. Stein in particular is being specifically targeted because she has had the courage to challenge both genocidal billionaire-backed protest parties in her campaigns for president. The Democratic Party in particular, which supported and funded the Israeli state's genocide and controls St. Louis County, wants to send a chilling message to anyone who would dare to challenge them like Stein has. If Jill Stein were to be convicted, she could face up to 18 months in prison. Students, working people, union members, and the antiwar movement must stand with Jill Stein. Demand that the false charges on Jill Stein be dropped immediately!

The famines that occurred early on in revolutionary societies were in fact the last famines of the capitalist-feudal order that came before. Socialism solved the problem of hunger, which had tormented the peasantry for centuries. Historical records from pre-revolutionary China cite 1,828 catastrophic famines over about 2,000 years, or roughly one per year. These would routinely claim millions of lives. What stopped them? The revolution, with its land reforms and Communist Party forces tasked with serving the people. That process did not happen with the snap of the fingers, but required seismic social transformations — a long struggle of shedding the old and building the new. That is why the last famine occurred after the revolution. We also know what happens when the capitalist dictatorship is restored in a formerly socialist country. After the defeat of the USSR, hunger returned to Russia at levels unseen since the immediate post-war period, when the country was still reeling from the effects of Germany’s war of extermination. The levels of hunger and death imposed by global capital on the people of the Eastern Bloc in the 1990s were historically unprecedented in peacetime.

"Socialism doesn't work because eventually you run out of other people's money." - Margaret Thatcher This dumb quote has nothing to with what socialism actually is... or what it has actually accomplished in the world. Stalin, Mao & Gaddaffi did a lot more than implement an income tax system.

Ukraine did this after Cuba spent hundreds of millions of dollars treating thousands of sick Ukrainian children from Chernobyl. Cuba spent 20 years providing specialised care they couldn't afford in Ukraine. Ukraine paid nothing, voting to starve Cuba was their payment I guess.
Ukraine voting to starve Cuba but we're supposed to believe they are hereos and defenders of Europe?

Yup, the denial is for many reasons and one is the infection is so terrifying to consider as well as how millions died in the first few years but also as in this image, there are many other factors.

My friend Guy Christensen is currently being detained at LAX by US border patrol upon returning from a trip to China. He is a pro-Palestine activist and social media influencer. He asked that we all circulate and share this video. Little is known right now, but I ask that everyone please share this as wide as possible to spread awareness, and to make sure Guy will be safe.

The PNW has had high COVlD levels for approximately 2 months. If someone does not regularly mask outdoors, a large gathering during a surge would be a wise time to do so. In surges, the odds of *multiple* infectious people in close proximity increases.
Replying to @AriDrennen
Outdoor *crowds* are often super spreader events and the PNW has been in a big surge for a while now. It’s weird that people are so averse to recognize this. Somehow everyone understood the concept of mitigating airborne disease in 2020 and 2021

I just finished reading "Provoked" by Scott Horton (@scotthortonshow) on the origins of the Ukraine war. I have to say I'm beyond impressed at how detailed and well researched the book is. I read a LOT of history books and it's extraordinarily rare to see a work done so meticulously. The title gives it away, the book's main thesis is that the war was provoked by the West. A conclusion any intellectually honest person who's spent a tiny bit of time studying the matter would make. The real value of the book is to back this up with a considerable amount of sourced evidence. Let me just take an example to illustrate this: the West's broken promise to Russia that NATO would not expand "one inch eastward" following the end of the Cold War, a fact so many people in the West still deny to this day despite the evidence. Horton could have just satisfied himself with sourcing the actual record from the US National Security Archive of US Secretary of State James Baker telling Gorbachev exactly this during a February 9 1990 meeting in Moscow (and not only once, but 3 times: nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/1…). This would have sufficed. But he went much further: he somehow found dozens and dozens of instances of top-level Western officials promising the Russians at the time that NATO would not expand East. For instance you had West German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher at a press conference with Baker saying that they "were in full agreement that there's no intention to extend the NATO area of defense and the security towards the East", and that this "holds true for all of the Eastern countries". Other example, in a meeting between the political directors of the foreign ministries of the U.S., the UK, France and Germany on March 6, 1991, German representative Jurgen Chrobog said, “We made it clear in the two-plus-four negotiations that we would not expand NATO beyond the Elbe. We can therefore not offer NATO membership to Poland and the others." U.S. Representative Raymond Seitz agreed, saying, “We have made it clear to the Soviet Union - in two-plus-four talks and elsewhere - that we will not take advantage of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Eastern Europe. NATO shall neither formally nor informally extend to the East.” Yet another example, British Prime Minister John Major, when questioned about East European nations' potential interest in joining NATO, promised Soviet Defense Minister Marshal Dmitri Yazov, “Nothing of the sort will happen.” Even though I knew of the promise, I was actually surprised at the sheer amount of times it was made by so many people. After reading this, it's really obvious why the Russians were convinced. Yet, pretty much simultaneously, at the 1991 Rome summit, NATO members agreed to a series of goals that could lead to former Warsaw Pact countries joining the alliance. And by mid-1992, a consensus emerged within the US administration that NATO enlargement would be pursued to strengthen Euro-American hegemony. All in all, this is the story the book tells: a series of measures not so much taken to purposefully antagonize Russia but to strengthen the West at their expense, with little to no consideration as to how they would feel and systematic deception to keep them cooperating while the West quietly pursued its expansionist agenda. At the same time, it can't be said that the book is particularly "pro-Russia." Horton is the director of The Libertarian Institute, and editorial director of Antiwar.com: as a Libertarian, it's pretty clear Horton doesn't have a lot of love for Russian governance. And he does write in the book that he believes it was a mistake by Russia to launch the "special military operation" in 2022, because they had several better alternatives. Horton clearly wrote the book as more of a critic of Western, and particularly American, foreign policy; to make it clear that the narrative of an "unprovoked Russian aggression" deliberately obscures decades of Western policy decisions that systematically backed Russia into a corner and created the very conditions they now condemn Russia for responding to. As the saying goes "it takes two to tango" and this is why I think this book is so important: beyond Ukraine, we have a systemic tendency to view things with one-sided narratives where we can do no wrong, and others' concerns don't matter. This, as illustrated by Ukraine, is extremely dangerous as it inevitably leads to miscalculations, and ultimately, avoidable conflicts with devastating human costs. Reckoning with the West's provocation with regards to Ukraine, if it happens, will hopefully force a broader reassessment of Western foreign policy and restore diplomacy based on mutual respect rather than unilateral ambition and duplicity.

Lula vs. Bolsonaro: I was held in solitary confinement for 1,901 days for revealing the truth about the U.S. government's killings and espionage, including against Brazil and its industries. Out of power, Lula fought for my freedom. In power, Lula discussed my persecution with Pope Francis, who decided to meet with my family and offer help. After my release, Lula and I met in Rome to mourn the Holy Father's passing. Lula was kind to my children and asked for nothing in return. In contrast, Jair and Flávio Bolsonaro did nothing and said nothing. Yet without the ability to say no to Washington and Tel Aviv, there can be no domestic policy, only foreign instructions. Those orders are always the same: "Expand our theft of resources and wages, and keep your mouths shut about us murdering children." Sellouts will surrender everything in exchange for a cut, even their own tongues.

Progressives traditionally support diplomacy and oppose enriching the military industrial complex. When it comes to the Ukraine proxy war, Bernie, listening to people with poor track records and careerist drives, has discarded that tradition. It has been self-sabotaging in more ways than one: not just ceding Trump the anti-war lane, which helped MAGA win two presidential elections, but propping up a Russia demonization effort that has been directly wielded against Bernie’s campaign itself. More than any US politician, Bernie has done so much for the progressive cause. But also more than anyone, on this issue he disgraces it. This is why progressive proxy warriors who push this agenda never want to debate it.
Disgraceful. Trump sacrifices Ukrainian lives in order to appease his fellow authoritarian, Mr. Putin. The U.S. must release the transfer of interceptor missiles to Ukraine. No U.S. alliance with the Russian dictatorship.

In January 2025 my mom’s lung cancer spread to her brain. The drug with the best chance of helping her was approved in China but not here. A doctor told me, almost as an aside, that if she were Chinese she could buy it at a pharmacy. So I flew to Shanghai and came home with 26 boxes in my luggage. That was 19 months ago. My mom is still here, still working, and in her words has had an amazing three years. The drug was approved in China in 2023. The FDA approved it in July 2025. It still is not for sale here. I know of at least 30 Americans who have made the same trip. I have been scared to tell this story because I worried it could cost my mom access to the medicine keeping her alive. But the problem matters more than my silence. These drugs need to be developed and available here, and that means FDA reform. Art Allen at KFF Health News told our story this week. It also ran in The Washington Post. kffhealthnews.org/health-ind…

🤧 SARS-CoV-2 Causes Chronic Immune Dysfunction After COVID, most people ask about fatigue, brain fog and the heart. Far fewer ask what happened to the immune system. A 2026 review in AJPM Focus compared SARS-CoV-2 with HIV. It found that both produce chronic immune dysfunction: exhausted T cells, chronic activation, a compromised gut barrier and greater vulnerability to infection. The immune system is a sequela, and it gets very little attention. 🧵

Western so-called "democracies" are doing everything they can to prop up the hereditary family dictatorship in Saudi Arabia, which beheads dissidents. The UK is deploying fighter jets to defend the Saudi dictatorship. The US has 100+ military advisors in Saudi Arabia, overseeing the wealthy oil regime's war against Yemen, the poorest country in West Asia. The "democratic" West loves monarchies, when they serve its imperialist interests.

One night in Havana, on a rooftop overlooking the city, a former Latin America diplomat told me that his country would not last three days under the kind of economic pressure that Cuba has faced for six decades. The same seems to be true of much of the West.
They sanctioned us for 50 years and then we sanctioned them for 5 months:
