Have policymakers in the EU, the UK and US states never heard of El Hierro?
A small island with 11,000 residents and plenty of wind. An ideal testing ground for the promise of 100% renewable electricity, before making millions of people depend on it.
They installed wind turbines with more than twice the island’s average electricity demand in capacity, plus pumped hydro storage. Yet in 2025, this system supplied just 44% of its electricity. Diesel supplied the rest.
@mhtncontrarian explains why: during prolonged periods of low wind, the upper reservoir empties. Then the diesel generators have to take over.
If this setup cannot deliver on its promise on a small, windy island, why are politicians so confident it will work on a vastly larger scale?
They keep pushing ahead, with millions of people’s electricity supply at stake.

We now see the full extent of preplanning and empire-building that went into the United Nations' global warming campaign.
It was all behind the scenes. Today, the UN has a workforce of roughly 190,000 and an annual budget of $3.45 billion. It has become a vast self-managing, self perpetuating bureaucracy - arguably the largest non-governmental network in the world. The UN had been laying the groundwork for an environmental crisis for decades before it was finally announced in 1988.
The UN took control of the World Meteorological Organization in 1951, transforming it into a specialised UN agency. The WMO operates with an annual budget of approximately $138.7 million and has a staff of 350 to 400.
The WMO bridges the gap between raw meteorological data, international political agendas and global news media - linking thousands of land stations, ocean buoys, aircraft and satellites. While its stated role is to share critical weather and water data, this massive infrastructure has been effectively co-opted into a public relations framework.
Consequently, the world has been bombarded with weather hysteria for almost 40 years. Mainstream news outlets routinely prioritise speculative, worst-case climate models over empirical observations - like 'rain bombs' - maintaining a permanent state of crisis designed to shape public compliance.
The information gathering agency, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, runs the scientific arm. It operates with a core secretariat of just 15 staff members and an annual budget of roughly $12.5 million. The IPCC was established 38 years ago, ostensibly as a neutral body to gather objective scientific information on climate.
In reality, the IPCC became the driving force behind the greatest environmental and social upheaval in modern history. Highly politicised from its inception, it was founded entirely by UN agencies - the WMO and the UN Environment Programme. This gave the UN absolute control over the global climate agenda and funded what has become the largest propaganda campaign in history.
The UN has also run annual fund raising COP summits around the world for 30 years. They have become junkets for the rich and privileged.
The IPCC did not recruit independent scientific staff; instead, its administrative apparatus actively sponsors and selects studies that supported the carbon dioxide hypothesis. Research raising questions or doubts are minimised or discarded. Critics find their studies starved of funding and publishers, while some even faced threats to their academic tenures.
Local weather outlets and national agencies now operate inside an ecosystem heavily influenced by these overarching, high-alarm targets, broadcasting continuous warnings of 'global boiling', catastrophic sea-level rise, and 'Code Red for Humanity' - with UN leadership acting as the chief amplifier. This environment birthed foundational, highly charged studies designed to lock in future warming projections.
For decades, the UN promoted only extreme scenarios. A prime example is the IPCC's reliance on high-end warming trajectories - such as projections warning of up to a 5.5-degree temperature rise - predictions so extreme that even mainstream scientists have increasingly conceded they are implausible.
Armed with a crisis of its own making, the UN called for the rapid dismantling of hydrocarbon fuels - coal, oil, and natural gas - the very energy sources that lifted humanity out of stagnation and powered the Industrial Revolution. Almost every aspect of modern civilisation, from transport networks to industrial manufacturing, relies entirely on these dense, inexpensive and reliable energy sources.
Climate management bears no relation to the UN’s foundational charter of resolving international conflict; it's a textbook case of bureaucratic mission creep.
The sheer complexity of this UN machinery, combined with an aura of technical authority, is precisely what insulates it from public scrutiny.

Gas prices are currently through the roof at perhaps £70-80/MWh (it's cheaper in summer).
Our utterly craven government are offering green hydrogen manufacturers £240/MWh, fixed price, year round, so that power stations can burn hydrogen instead of gas.
They hate you. They really hate you.

Fani Willis, who once prosecuted Trump for his election denial, just fell victim to voter fraud.
Her voter registration was switched to NYC, address to Trump Tower - and it worked!
Correct.
Using Starlink, a civilian commercial service, for offensive drone strikes to kill people has never been allowed, nor should it be.
Starshield, a different system, is controlled by the US government. What they decide to do is up to them.
Ukraine military violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people. That loophole was closed last week.
Starlink remains critical to the defense of Ukraine, as it is the only system that cannot be jammed or blown up, at least for now. Were Starlink to be turned off, the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately. This is NOT a threat, it is simply a statement of fact.
Starlink was also crucial to preventing Russia from overrunning Ukraine in the early days of the war, as all other means of communication were destroyed or jammed by Russia.
SpaceX has done more to defend Ukraine than any private company on Earth BY FAR.
That said, I have nothing but UTTER CONTEMPT for the virtue-signaling evil warmongers who push for endless slaughter and offer no realistic solution to the conflict. May you burn in hell.
End of story.

I've been to several events in the past few weeks where people (often working for network operators) talk up the idea that CP2030 will save people money but only if there's a massive increase in grid infrastructure
Under the regulated asset base (RAB) model, network operators earn an allowed return on the value of their regulated assets
The larger the asset base, the greater the absolute return they can earn
Capital investment increases the RAB, allowing operators to recover depreciation and financing costs through consumer bills over many years
This creates a strong incentive to favour capital expenditure and asset growth, even where cheaper alternatives might exist, because a larger RAB means higher potential profits for network companies
So next time you hear this nonsense about how if only we spend a few more £billions we'll all be better off, think about who is saying it...
Renewables operators earn their income from subsidies... The more renewables we plan the more subsidies are up for grabs
Network operators earn their income through a regulated return on the asset base... The more new infrastructure that is built the more money that make
All of this gets recovered through bills
CP2030 cui bono? Not consumers, that's for sure
@Dieter_Helm explains that we actually do need to spend on infrastructure but a lot of that is to upgrade existing infrastructure that is old and either not performing well now or at risk of retirement
This I agree with. Also that to do it effectively we must cut regulation. It cannot be the case that we put lives at risk due to decrepit infrastructure because we're trying to protect a few newts, bats or fish

Excellent pre Busdget read jam packed with stats for the Chancellor and govt ministers to mull over. Two stand out for me - first the big drop on consumer confidence in October underlining fragility and second the 117,000 drop on payrolled
Jobs in retail & hospitality - the most highly taxed sectors of economy. Both underline that “do no harm” will not be enough and targeted incentives to reduce cost of doing business will be needed to
Reverse NEETs crisis and driver growth in every postcode
