Today’s the day. My new podcast, It Should be Different, launches on all platforms. This has been a true passion project and I can’t wait to continue to engage all of you in the future of Canadian health care.
Four episodes launch today, including a quick trailer, and episodes featuring Dr. Catherine Varner, an emergency room physician in Toronto, Dr. Paul Parks, an emergency room physician in Medicine Hat, and Dr. Rick Ward, a family physician and senior medical director in Calgary.
In future episodes, you’ll meet a health care historian, specialists, and more. Episodes will drop the first and third Wednesday of each month. Please let me know what you think. Together, we can improve health care in Canada.

Former Alberta Medical Association president Dr. Paul Parks says after years of trying to collaborate with province to improve the health-care system, the experience left him with the impression the UCP isn't interested in getting front-line expertise.

Albert Premier Danielle Smith said Ontario is sending 19 burn unit nurses and 5 OR nurses to Alberta to help care for injured soldiers from CFB Wainwright.
Some victims have burns on 30% to 80% of their bodies and changing the dressings can take up to 2 hours, she said.
My thoughts go out to all those affected by this incident: the patients, the families, the first responders, and all HCWs.
I have no doubt HCWs in Wainwright, Edmonton, and NE AB have risen to the challenge and have provided extraordinary care in trying circumstances.

We are deeply saddened by reports of the incident at CFB Wainwright.
Our thoughts are with the brave Canadian Armed Forces members affected, their families loved ones and the broader military community. We are grateful to the emergency personnel responding and supporting those involved.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as appropriate.

Canadian MD's are clamouring for changes to our h/c system. We are desperate for more beds, more staff.
When are governments going to listen?
When is the public going to hold gov's accountable?
Let's talk PROFITIZATION of healthcare.
Dual Billing is Step Three of the 3 step plan by govt
1 Help pay to build private facilities
2 Force more care in these private facilities
3 Allow Dual Billing without any discussion - drives workforce to private facilities

Every Albertan should listen to this. It's heartbreaking.
Neither the Premier nor Minister LaGrange have even acknowledged it has happened.
They have broken our EMS and Emergency system - safe and timely care is no longer guaranteed.
Albertans: PUBLIC MRI’s are booking almost two years away.
UCP solution = let rich pay to jump this queue, taking more staff from public queue, making public queue longer
That’s their stated plan in action already.
EVERY AB should be asking why public queue is so broken!
Here we have a FFS @ABDanielleSmith a friend of mine who needs a brain scan just received her booking for an MRI. It is in August 2028 two years from now. This is what Dani did by allowing the rich to book non referred Diagnostic appointments. @cbccalgary cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/…
