A group of hackers published classified data on Russian soldiers killed in the war, from Russia's statistics agency Rosstat. In late August, the total was 450,100 (around 100k per year). It is in line with other independent estimates. There is also a regional breakdown.

But its the silent majority that choose the outcome. And choose they did.
Kansas has elected a Democrat to the Senate. The last time was 1932. Texas. South Carolina. States Trump carried two years ago.
Trump told Americans to treat these midterms as though he were on the ballot. They took him at his word.
It's a colossal humiliation. But it's about far more than Trump.
This could be the first sign of healing in American politics. The beginning of the end of its polarisation.
Extremism moved the window. The silent majority just moved it back.

Many in Europe will now be tempted to believe a day will come where things can 'go back to normal' with a post-Trump US.
It won't, and it can't. Halting now would be a historic blunder.
Shifting towards strategic autonomy must continue as it reflects a new reality beyond Europe is unprepared for.
