๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ YOUTH DELEGATE QUESTIONS EXCLUSION OF PRIVATELY SPONSORED MEDICAL INTERNS Frank Ocero, representing the youth of Lira, has urged Government to review its decision to pay only formerly government-sponsored medical interns. He questioned the rationale for excluding privately sponsored interns, arguing that government sponsorship ends upon completion of studies and noting that some privately sponsored graduates are beneficiaries of the Higher Education Students' Loan Scheme. He called on Government to reconsider the policy to ensure equitable treatment of all qualifying medical interns. #YouthParliamentUG #SUPA #SNYP2026

Dear Fellow Citizens, I arrived in New Delhi today for the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, which runs from 26 to 27 October under the theme โ€œFostering Parliaments for People-Centric Development.โ€ I am joined by the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi (Nakawa West), Hon. Betty Nakisita Mpongo (Namutumba District), Hon. Sowedi Ismail Mulemya (Busia Municipality) and Hon. Annet Katusiime Mugisha (Bushenyi District). Government and Opposition are here together for Ugandaโ€™s national interest. As a BRICS partner country, our delegation will contribute to discussions on building strong institutions, how to ensure sustainable development and a fairer global governance, digital innovation and human-centred artificial intelligence. This all because we have placed our people at the centre of the legislative agenda of the 12th Parliament. #BRICSPF2026 #BRICSIndia2026 #BRICS2026

It was an honour to participate in the book launch; I WILL DO NO HARM by Taremwa Asaph @kiuvarsity, a book that captures the dilemma of the medical profession in Uganda. It's our responsibility to identify gaps and suggest solutions for a better Uganda. @MinofHealthUG

I participated in the 3rd edition of Twende Zetu Butiama Pilgrimage Safari in remembrance of the legacies of our EAC founding fathers. My analysis through interactions; the people of East Africa are ready to Federate, it's the political will that's missing. @jumuiya

Thank you LOP, the mouthpiece of the common man always.
Small-scale vendors of Wi-Fi and internet hotspots should not be banned. Instead, UCC could come up with an appropriate licensing framework for them that is not as cumbersome as that of the big players. #KeepingTheGovtInCheck

UPDATE: Democratic Party (DP) president and Justice Minister, @norbertmao, has proposed responsible charcoal production as an alternative to an immediate ban, arguing that Ugandaโ€™s transition to clean energy must take into account the livelihoods of communities that depend on charcoal. Mao recommends distinguishing between charcoal production that destroys natural forests and sustainable production using trees deliberately grown for fuel. He also advocates for increased tree planting and improved charcoal-making technologies to minimise waste and maximise output. #MonitorUpdates ๐Ÿ“น: Shabibah Nakirigya

I suggest that whenever one is going to a hospital for purposes of oversight/ M&E, that person irrespective of Status MUST get adequate briefing from a DHO of that district highlighting the SOPs of a hospital. Ministers are embarrassing themselves and the Country. @GovUganda

Pleasure meeting Hon. Jimmy Akena @AkenaJimmyMP at the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere's home in Butiama Tanzania. As we espouse on the enduring legacy of Julius Nyerere as a founding father of EAC, may we draw lessons from his servant leadership. #afrikamasherikifest

How can youth leaders fulfil their duties without adequate funding? โ€œWe call for stronger and better-supported youth representative structures.โ€ Meaningful youth representation requires more than a seat at the table, it requires the resources to deliver. @BasemeraSh69788

There is too much pain in this manโ€™s voice, you can feel how much he loves his country and itโ€™s people. His patriotism is not taught in Kyankwanzi otherwise we would have already seen the members from that side sharing this message.

The rich really laugh at the poor right? What's the percentage of Ugandans with multiple cars at home? This fuel price is biting a farmer deep down in Lira hiring a vehicle or Boda boda to transport his cassave to the market; NOT YOU RICH MULTI-CAR OWNERS. @GovUganda
Defence Minister @KiryowaKk advises the public to reduce unnecessary movements to save fuel. #PlenaryUg

A nice evening meeting outstanding youth leaders on a standing conversation at the National Youth Symposium 2026 in Parliament. It is always a beautiful space to connect with like-minded leaders building in different spacesโ€”politics, tech, legal, and business. Great to meet Mable, Hellen, Joshua, Tracy and Daniel Ongom Azik, Chairperson NYC. These are the connections that matter. Different lanes, same mission. @AMBITIOUSGOLDIE @DanielOngom_A

For decades, the story of Northern Uganda has been told through the lens of war. For nearly 20 years, the LRA conflict disrupted communities, displaced millions, interrupted education, destroyed livelihoods and left deep scars across generations. The consequences did not disappear when the guns fell silent. Research continues to document the long-term effects of the conflict on education, livelihoods, poverty and human development. But as a humanitarian and digital inclusion advocate from Northern Uganda, I believe we must begin telling another story. A story of possibility. We cannot change the 20 years that were lost. We cannot erase the pain of those who lived through the conflict. But we can decide what the next generation inherits. And that is why I am proud to be part of the team bringing the #KakebeTechCamp2026 to life. Today, together with brothers and sisters from across Northern Uganda,@Krinastyla2 (Apac), @odida_jackson (Omoro), @otolosedrick (Amolatar) and Gioevana (Kitgum) , we sat around the table and asked a simple but powerful question: What can we do? Not what can someone else do for us. What can WE do? Our answer is action. From 9th to 19th December 2026, Kitgum will host 300 young people for 10 days of learning, innovation, creativity and opportunity. Young people will explore: ๐Ÿ’ป AI and Software Development ๐ŸŽฌ Content Creation ๐Ÿš€ Entrepreneurship ๐Ÿค– Robotics ๐ŸŽฎ Video Gaming ๐Ÿ’ก Innovation and Ideas And the work will not begin in December. From 5th October, we will begin weekly online mentorship sessions, connecting young people with knowledge, mentors and opportunities. After the camp, 100 young people will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through the Digital Bridge Internship Program. For me, this is deeply personal. Digital inclusion is not simply about putting technology in someone's hands. It is about giving people the knowledge, access, confidence and opportunity to use technology to change their lives and communities. Northern Uganda has spent too long being described by what happened to us. It is time to be known for what we build. Our young people are not merely beneficiaries of development. They are builders of the future. This is why I am standing with this team. This is why we are taking the conversation from war to work, from limitations to possibilities, from exclusion to inclusion, and from being left behind to creating our own opportunities. The work will not be easy. But it is necessary. 300 young people. 10 days. One movement. One bold belief: Northern Uganda can build its own digital future. We shall do it.
