Today I had a phone conversation with HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I expressed Romania’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its people, and strongly condemned Houthi attacks on civilian infrastructure. We support the Kingdom’s efforts to de-escalate tensions.
We know from the Black Sea that threats to freedom of navigation have global consequences. Protecting trade routes and supply chains is a shared interest.
We also discussed deepening our political and economic ties. Saudi Arabia is one of Romania’s most important partners in the Gulf and there is much more we can do together.

Had a substantive phone conversation with NATO Secretary General @SecGenNATO Mark Rutte. I expressed my appreciation for his continued support and close cooperation.
We discussed the deteriorating security situation in the Black Sea, and the growing hybrid threats facing NATO Allies on the Eastern Flank.
The escalating tensions in our region call for heightened Allied vigilance and a firm, coordinated response.
I thanked the Secretary General and our NATO Allies for their sustained attention to Black Sea security, including the recently announced additional surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities for the region.

Represented Romania 🇷🇴 today at the high-level meeting on the Call for Control of AI Frontier Models, an initiative by Finland and Norway.
AI is now a core foreign policy and security issue. Breakthrough innovation must go hand in hand with human oversight, strong safety standards, and clear rules against the misuse of advanced AI, especially in cyber threats and disinformation.

👑 Today marks 151 years since the birth of Queen Marie of Romania, a symbol of national unity and Greater Romania, and one of our country’s most beloved sovereigns. 🇷🇴
I fondly recall inaugurating Queen Marie of Romania Square in Tunis in 2020. 🇷🇴🇹🇳 It was an honour to pay tribute to a remarkable woman who served Romania with courage and devotion, leaving a legacy that reaches far beyond its borders.
Her memory continues to inspire us and bring nations closer through history and culture. 🕊️
