RESTORATIVE PATHWAYS NEWSLETTER
OCTOBER EDITION
This time of year, I think a lot about what “home” really means. For the people we serve, it often starts with something simple: a safe place to sleep, someone who believes in them, and the chance to begin again.
In this issue, you’ll meet Kerri, who this month celebrates one year of recovery. You’ll also get a first look at Home for the Holidays, our online auction running November 1-10.
“I’m still writing it”: Kerri’s Story
When Kerri first came to Restorative Pathways, she was struggling with fentanyl addiction and wasn’t sure she would make it. Then came the moment that changed everything. After an overdose that took four doses of Narcan to bring her back, she woke up to see her service dog, Rebel, beside her and terrified.
“I realized that my addiction wasn’t only hurting me,” she says. “It was hurting someone who loved and depended on me completely.”
She walked away from fentanyl that day. The program gave her structure, and people who understood what she was going through. Just as important, it taught her she didn’t have to do this alone.
This month, Kerri celebrates one year sober. She is now working toward a role supporting others in recovery.
“Recovery isn’t just about stopping a drug,” she says. “It’s about finding a reason to live.”
And Rebel is still right beside her.
Stories like Kerri’s happen one day at a time, and so does the support behind them. A monthly gift helps keep recovery support steady, so the next person who walks through our doors finds people ready to walk with them.

We are expanding drug-free permanent supportive housing in San Francisco, thanks to legislation authored by District 6 Supervisor Matt Dorsey.
Our administration is transforming how the city confronts the homelessness and behavioral health crisis. We are not just getting people off the streets—we are helping them achieve long-term stability and recovery by standing up the right kind of housing and connecting them to the services they need.
Unsheltered homelessness is at its lowest level in 15 years. We have consolidated street outreach teams, increased shelter placements by 40%, and stood up more than 600 new treatment-focused beds. Today's legislation builds on that momentum.
Thank you Supervisor Matt Dorsey for your leadership and partnership, our city is expanding and accelerating these critical efforts to keep San Franciscans safe and deliver better outcomes for our city’s most vulnerable residents. – at San Francisco, CA

This is a great organization serving not just Oakland, but San Francisco, too! They rescue and house victims of DV and Human Trafficking while also offering drug treatment on-site.

Deeply disturbing article about human trafficking and prostitution on 'The Blade' in Oakland. Especially the runaway girl from LA who ends up working the street in the Bay Area within 2 weeks. Insane. @kmmoreland
“Children often tell us that their traffickers are the first ones that ever celebrated their birthday, or took them out to a nice restaurant,” Acheson said. “We are competing with the traffickers.” 🧵

I'm only posting this because women are the fastest growing demographic of the homeless. When I was homeless, every woman I knew on the street had been sexuallly assaulted at least once. It's a tragedy beyond words. @RPathways_ @kmmoreland

Human trafficking is real. It happens far too often, and there's not enough resources for women and children who are rescued. That's why I support @kmmoreland in the Seattle area, and @RPathways_ in the San Francisco Bay Area. They save lives everyday. king5.com/article/news/local…

I'll keep saying it. The same organized drug dealers that sell fentanyl in San Francisco also traffick women and children. They must be stopped. @DEAHQ @FBISanFrancisco @CivilRights @HarmeetKDhillon @SFDAOffice

Two weeks ago I visited @kmmoreland who runs a DV shelter near Seattle where they rescue victims of Human Trafficking and met Marissa who is a survivor. She agreed to talk to me and tell some hard truths about her journey and how she is now fighting for her recovery.🧵

The same organized drug dealers in San Francisco that we talk about also pimp out women and traffic children. It's all connected. 😡
SFPD data shows reported sex trafficking incidents jumped 163% in 2025 versus the same period in 2024 —In part, due to better cooperation with the current DA @BrookeJenkinsSF. It's also a reminder that the trafficking of women and children is a real problem in San Francisco.
