“There’s a cost to corruption.”
Appearing on PoliticsNation tonight, Hakeem Jeffries confirmed again that Democrats will launch investigations into corruption on day one, follow the facts, uphold the Constitution, and hold the crooks accountable.

The elite media absolutely never talks about how the Mexican left utterly crushed the corrupt narco-establishment in Mexico and instituted a wildly popular democratic socialist government that’s still going strong after eight years because they wouldn’t want to give you any ideas

Blue Wave smacked Republicans so hard DeSantis dropped the act and started talking like a guy who went to Yale and got a JD from Harvard again.
Ron DeSantis explains why the GOP "screaming socialism" doesn't work anymore:
"Young people have a very positive view of socialism compared to capitalism. The question is, why is that? Some of it is the education in our universities. But I think a big part of that is, what they're comparing is not free enterprise versus socialism. What they're comparing is how government gets involved in business, and you have crony capitalism. The best kind of indirect supporters of socialism are some of these corporatist republicans who propagate these crony policies. The average person is seeing that and saying, 'Wait a minute, you're trying to bend the government to funnel benefits to this corporation or that industry. What about having a competitive market? ... Young people really aren't seeing that. They're seeing just a handful of companies that have an outsized influence on our economy and on our society"

If you’re wondering why counting the votes takes so long – this is normal in Alaska.
It’s a big state where more than 80% of our communities aren’t on the road system. And we’re going to make sure that every last ballot is counted, and every single Alaskan’s voice is heard.
RT @jamesetta_w: Would really love an American journalist to react yo this question. Why is foreign press comfortable calling Miller a whit…

Russell Vought has found a neat way to make Congress optional: hold approved money until the fiscal year ends, then pretend the calendar did the canceling. In September, OMB sought $810 million in rescissions. The GAO said the administration couldn't use that request to let the funding expire. Somehow the man who lectures everyone about constitutional government keeps misplacing Article I.
The stakes are Head Start, disaster relief, medical research, and the basic promise that laws passed by Congress mean something. Get the records. Put the officials under oath. Close the claimed loopholes. A president doesn't get a line-item veto just because his budget director knows how to wait until midnight.
Russell Vought is the most powerful Trump official most Americans have never heard of. And Democrats are coming for his power.
@crampell explains how Trump’s budget chief helped undermine Congress’s authority and why his reckoning may be coming.

Couldn’t one make the same argument that he’s trying to do to the United States what he’s already done to the Republican Party?

One crucial thing to watch is how many US and Ukrainian assets Trump tries to give to Russia in the next three months. Probably deserving of a real-time investigation of its own.

As possibly the only person in American politics less popular than Trump himself, it makes perfect sense. An autocrat's circle always grows smaller as ruthless loyalty out of complicity becomes the only relevant qualification.
Steven Miller's immigration policy has taken arguably the GOP's best issue and made it a liability. He, second only to Trump himself, is responsible for blowing up the multiracial coalition that elected Trump in 2024 and sparked the GOP's dream of a multiracial working class coalition. He's also probably the single most despised person in American politics. So of course, Trump appointed him Chief of Staff after getting humiliated at the polls. It's so perfect.

I spent two years working with Stephen Miller.
His appointment as White House chief of staff is among the most dangerous personnel decisions in the history of our republic.
I say that without reservation.

We have the largest intelligence apparatus in the world. We used to have trusted allies and intelligence partners everywhere.
Now CENTCOM is offering $20 million for intel on Iran’s nuclear program?
What does that tell us about what we’ve lost under Trump?
Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $20 million and possible relocation for information about Iran’s nuclear program, including its facilities, equipment, and associated personnel, such as those in the scientific community, or the movement of any of the above.
