Hey, if the Milwaukee Brewers just straight up go out and sweep the Rays in the World Series... At what point do we have to start having interesting... all time... conversations about a 103-59 team with a +214 run differential going (potentially) 11-1 in the postseason?

The bot behavior on this tweet has been insane. What happened here.

I know cross-sport comparisons aren't always one-to-one, but the parallels with Burrow, JaMarr, and Tee and the OKC KD, Westbrook, and Harden era are sort of interesting to me. A championship appearance very early in their timelines. Undeniable ceiling when they're all clicking.

Burrow is quieter, kind of an enigma but a generational talent. Chase is an unstoppable force, athletic freak who plays a half of a foot taller than he actually he is. And Tee could have been the one that got away; and he'd undeniably be a high-end WR1 anywhere else in the NFL.

I don't know what any of this means, other than random thoughts on a Monday morning. I think there are also pretty interesting Scott Brooks / Zac Taylor lines that you could draw too... Either way, just a reminder that these guys are special. Days like yesterday are one-of-one.

Nantz was downright openly disappointed when Huntley threw that pick lmao.

Why in the world would you not go for 2 there.

If Mahomes and Kelce made the play Burrow & Tee just did, Nantz would have needed a new pair of pants. He called the play like an approach shot by a T-20 golfer on a Saturday afternoon.
Is Jim Nantz awake?!?! A massive 4th down stop inside the 15 and he’s like quietly talking through it. WAKE UP JIM

Zac having to burn a timeout because he was too upset about a call yelling at a ref is probably going to get lost in the mess of this game, but that was extremely stupid.

Beginning to think that the premise behind the Bengals’ “our linebackers were so bad last year that it was actually a good thing” theory may have been a bit flawed.

Find me literally one (1) Reds fan who saw the contract Nick Martinez got this this offseason and thought that was where the Reds should have put their money instead. Nick Martinez was a good Red. He’s been a great Ray. Sometimes it doesn’t have to be deeper than that.
The Game 1 starter for the Rays is a guy who the Reds didn't maximize and who they didn't value enough to retain this offseason. I think sometimes we actually underestimate the gap in competence levels of MLB organizations.

John Moz has become such a fascinating individual to me. The Angels, and Mozeliak specifically, are in one of the most unique situations I can remember in recent history. New owner, no coach, no GM. Whatever role Mozeliak is, he personally views himself as the interim. Wild.
Mozeliak: Angels will hire a new GM for 2027 season; it won't be him, via @JeffFletcherOCR. New manager will be hired after the GM.

Jesus Christ, can this organization have one original idea.
Could Carl Willis reunite with Terry Francona in Cincinnati? The Guardians pitching coach told @GDubMLB that Francona would be the reason he'd consider joining the Reds. Willis, 65, is on a year-to-year agreement in Cleveland and previously pitched for the Reds from 1984-86.

Hot take: the #Reds may have actually accomplished their mission of building their offense around the "Cleveland model" the past couple years. It's just not scalable against better opponents. Reds are 22-14 vs. the ALC since 2025. Shoot, they're 12-12 vCLE the last 5 years.
MLB ranks by team: TB/CLE AVG: 2/24 OBP: 5/18 SLG: 15/27 OPS: 8/26 wRC+: 6/22 Pitching numbers were relatively even, but these teams were not close lol. I get was Rose is saying because Cleveland ownership blows and its truly malpractice what they do, its one thing to be dumb and cheap (Reds). I think its a larger crime to be smart and cheap (Cleveland), but we can call a spade a spade here. They were a pretty mediocre team who just plays in a horrid division (becoming an annual tradition at this point) and they took advantage of that, which is ok.

The Guardians are/were: - 54-59 vs. non-AL Central opponents in 2025 - 6-12 vs. NL Central opponents in 2025 - 56-54 vs. non-AL Central opponents in 2026 - 9-9 vs. NL Central opponents in 2026 I just think they're closer to San Diego & Arizona than Milwaukee & Tampa.

I mean, shoot, San Diego and Arizona might be 100-win teams in the AL Central every year.

Replying to @yuggs513
I get it with Cleveland and I really do respect them. But they have 1 playoff series win over a non AL Central post 2016 (2022 Rays). I thought the mid to late 2010's teams were really good (should have beat NY in 2017), but they should not be in the same breath as Milwaukee in terms of what they are doing.

There should be much more handwringing around the Cleveland Guardians running the 30th ranked payroll in Major League Baseball despite having a first-ballot HOFer on a contract extension that should have warranted MLBPA intervention + 2 AL ROTY candidates on league minimum deals.

When I said that they're an affront to the sport, this is what I meant. This is why I balked at the idea of them being considered equals to this year's Brewers (or even Rays). They didn't try. Guardians fans should be furious that this team still managed to win 85 games.
