But the economic boost to the UK as a whole of rejoining the EU would be £150bn, Goldman Sachs says, which would put more money in people's pockets and likely offset any effect on wages of greater labour flexibility - which in itself would encourage firms to employ more people.

“I want to see the best deal… for Britain” Housing Secretary Angela Rayner says we need to have a “honest conversation” about the trade offs of re-joining free movement with the EU and then “put that to the people at a general election” #BBCLauraK bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001bv0…

Secure a deal? That sounds like more UK exceptionalism. We need to #RejoinNow to get the full benefits of EU membership. The Rejoin EU Party has launched a campaign to urge Labour MPs to back rejoining ASAP. We hope they'll back us. #ExitBrexit

All this stuff about a youth-mobility scheme, a food deal and reintegration into the carbon market is Starmer's agenda. @andyburnham needs to go to Brussels and say things have moved on and he wants to go further. If that means dumping the half-measures, so be it. #RejoinNow

Burnham opens the door to having an “honest discussion” on free movement because, since Brexit, the nature of immigration into the UK has been “different” with more foreigners moving permanently rather than returning to their home countries. thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…

That's what an open and honest debate about rejoining the EU has done for Labour. An eight-point lead in the polls. Let's #RejoinEU now. Bring it on. therejoineuparty.com/tell-yo…

Why shouldn't we join Schengen and the euro? Do we still want to be reluctant members of a club where we're trying to avoid the rules all the time, or do we want to be positive, enthusiastic full participants, benefiting from everything on offer? The latter, in our opinion.

At last a post #Brexit PM who is being honest with the British people about the benefits of free movement. FWIW IMO @andyburnham is honest & determined to strengthen our economy & make the UK a better, fairer, more prosperous & safer place for all its people.
