We need new ideas to lower mortgage costs for young families. Here's one: have the GSEs provide a targeted backstop bid for MBS to lower the 30/10 spread, which is costing young Americans extra cash.
Community lenders think it will work.

234 bp spread still too high. Hopefully the GSEs are re-engaging here with MBS purchases.
Mortgage finance EO hits, a day after it was expected… whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2…
Zero evidence that GSEs put back into the market with backstops & ongoing Congressional charters will raise mortgage rates. Just no evidence.
Schiff can’t even tell you how the MBS markets even work.
If Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are ever privatized, it will be a disaster for taxpayers and new investors who buy in, but a windfall for existing investors like @BillAckman who cash out. However, since any move to privatize will push mortgage rates higher, it's unlikely to happen.
Hey @polltracker2024, where IS this poll you are publicizing?
It's not on the Emerson College website?
What is the data sample size? The margin of error?
Hello?
So @PollTracker2024 it is starting to look like there is no such poll, provide link pls or delete the post.
Some of the “buzz” about spreads blowing out here has been coming from camps that want endless govt control, and/or want mortgage rates higher than they should be.
It won’t be difficult at all to keep spreads tame and even reduce them as part of reform here.

We may see reduced Title insurance costs, which can be substantial, on select Refi mortgages…
“direct the Enterprises to expand the title acceptance pilot approved by FHFA in 2024 into an ongoing program, available nationwide through both Enterprises, under which an Enterprise may accept an automated title review or other title-risk assessment approved by FHFA in lieu of a lender's title insurance policy on eligible refinance transactions.”
Serious question I just want to know.

Someone pls explain to me how pollsters have missed the Collins races in Maine by substantial margins in 2008, 2014, 2020 but this time they have it exactly correct?
Serious question.
Pollsters have entirely fixed their “models” in that state?
No kidding.
