I'm increasingly convinced that burnout doesn't come from working long hours or weekends. Burnout comes from working on things that drain your energy with people that do the same.

It's fascinating that there are two completely opposite narratives about US vs. Europe. 1. Americans are strong warriors from Mars, Europeans are emasculated weaklings from Venus 2. "How can Europeans live without A/C, painkillers, and having to walk 800m occasionally!??"
I encouraged the boys to walk to the bar that was 0.5 miles away. Everybody is mad at me now. This incline is insane.

2025 is the first year ever that Australia has recorded more pedestrian fatalities than vehicle passenger fatalities. Super-sized vehicles seemingly doing a great job at protecting their occupants at the expense of everyone else. drive.com.au/news/pedestrian…

As the Liberals roll into a second week of rank political opportunism, it’s worth remembering this: Tony Abbott quietly did a deal with an MP that allowed controversial rapid-fire shotguns into Australia. The question is - who was the MP, and why the deal? I found out. 👇 1/2

Massive new @Nature study: castration increases lifespan across vertebrates (zoo mammals, rodents, wild animals). This aligns with historical human data: Korean eunuchs lived 14-19 years longer than their peers. Your move, @Bryan_Johnson.

Scientists December 2025: "the magnitude of climate change is likely underestimated - global warming is probably at the unsurvivable high end of projections"
Heading for rapid extinction at 3/3.5°C and rising by 2045-54 and yet we're in virtually total denial.

Collapse of key Atlantic current could bring extreme drought to Europe for centuries, study finds. That's an under-appreciated impact of an #AMOC shutdown, of particular concern given the recent results showing much higher likelihood of this. 1/2 livescience.com/planet-earth…

Another view from yesterday morning's incredible snowfall in #Pittsburgh, this time a snowglobe view of the Clemente Bridge. I liked that the snow had partially recovered the road as well...makes it look a bit more like a snowglobe.

What a morning in #Pittsburgh today. I was downtown for over six hours capturing the snow as it fell on the Steel City, and it might be one of my favorite snowfalls ever. I have so many views to share, but we'll start with one from Mt. Washington, a snowglobe view of the incline.

I have tried and failed for a decade to capture this view in #Pittsburgh, and this morning I was finally able to. In this scene, the Duquesne Incline passes above the train tracks right as a Norfolk Southern train was going underneath it. Can't believe my luck that it worked out.

Sale of these sites shouldn’t be tipping money into the defence budget, we should be using this money to build thousands of public housing units in Paddo and Mosman.

The Govt bought the land for between $4M and $10M and then sold it back to the seller for $1.27M. It refuses to tell the public (via #FOI) or the Senate (via questions on notice) the purchase price. Maladministration, or something more sinister? #auspol michaelwest.com.au/follow-th…

The NSW toll car subsidy should end. The Sydney Harbour Bridge, Harbour Tunnel and Western Tunnel should all be tolled in both directions and a congestion tax be introduced for the Sydney CBD. All funds should go into a public transport fund. That is all.

Jaw-dropping! CBA boss Matt Comyn objects to repaying low-income customers ASIC said were overcharged by effectively saying it would be stealing from SHAREHOLDERS. This is the bank that charged fees for no service. Australian bankers are entitled arseholes.

During the 4-day Eras tour in Sydney, Sydney Transport moved 196,000 people by train and 43,000 by bus to and from the concert venue. Cars are not an efficient mass transit system.
One-hour timelapse (60x speed) of Central Station during @SEMASHOW. This is one of eight (soon to be 14!) Loop Stations which operated at this awesome @LVCVA event. On the day shown, Vegas Loop safely transported 29,755 passengers.
