Great #infographic summarizing a retrospective study that found that among 285 eligible patients, higher injected blood volume was associated with fewer repeat EBPs and greater likelihood of complete headache resolution.
Multivariable analysis showed a dose-response pattern, with each additional mL reducing the odds of treatment failure.
Increased time interval after #PDPH diagnosis to #EBP also improved success. #OBAnes

💉Increased volume of injected blood was significantly associated with a reduction in the likelihood of requiring a second epidural blood patch; volumes of 30 mL and higher were associated with a higher likelihood of symptom resolution.
💉 Injection of blood targeted to the patient’s back pressure allowed injection of larger volumes; larger volumes reduced the need for a second blood patch. Prospective trials should compare the strategies of injection limited by patient symptoms versus a fixed volume.
