Since General Mkhwanazi was appointed to head the National Task Team against Organized Crime, the results are showing in weekly busts of these drug labs. This team is doing far more than the DPCI, the Hawks, under whose mandate this would naturally fall. The likes of Lebeya, Senona, Jacob, Nyuswa, failed dismally.
DEVELOPING:
Police have uncovered another suspected clandestine drug laboratory at Ramokokastad, near Sun City in North West.
Operation led to seizure of 20 bags of suspected drug material, weighing approximately 40kg each, along with large quantities of chemicals, gas cylinders, generators, cooking equipment, water tanks and other materials allegedly used in drug manufacturing.
Preliminary observations suggest the premises may have been used to manufacture Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine.
Four suspects, aged between 19 and 71, were arrested. A fifth suspect reportedly fled and is being sought.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Mogwase Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 26 October, facing charges of manufacturing and dealing in illicit drugs.
Breakthrough by the Hawks and other specialised police teams.
