Kansas, three-point shooting, in three exhibition games:
Tre White: 9-for-17 (53%)
Everybody else: 13-for-61 (21%)
Defense is a huge question mark at this point in the year. Louisville and Duke combined to score 179 points on you in your building, and both shot the three-ball well. Seems like defense always starts slow and gets better under Self, so not a huge concern, but definitely a ?
Tyran Stokes took 29 free throw attempts in KU's two exhibition games vs. Louisville and Duke.
For comparison's sake, Darryn Peterson drew 19 free throw attempts in his first five games last year.
Love the aggressiveness of his play style. He could lead the Big 12 in FTAs.
I thought Reeves seemed safe for the starting center spot, at least until Trey Kaufman-Renn got ramped up to speed, until today. Seeing this makes me think they're rolling with TKR at the 5 and not looking back come next week.
Stokes is so damn good, man. His court-vision is insane for somebody of his size. He's basically an extra point guard out there, finding all of these three-point shooters. He's the best passer on the team and considering that Kinney exists, that's a big compliment
He's not a better pro prospect but he's going to be a more impactful college player. Peterson was the most talented player that has ever worn that jersey, but Stokes' passion and toughness will make a bigger impact. I'd take Stokes over Peterson every day and twice on Sundays.
Just a couple of observations:
- Council is better than he was last year and KU fans should be so glad he's back
- Really like the Council + Kinney pairing
- Reeves has been significantly more impressive than Mbiya in exhibition play
- Three-point shooting is an issue
A+ uniform matchup. A+ atmosphere. A+ programs. This matchup should take place every year, rotating between Cameron and Phog Allen. Make it count and make it regular!
Tough night from the floor for Tyran Stokes. Love the passion, though. Pair that with Louisville making as many threes as they have and this is a pretty reasonable result. Get TKR back and we’ll see Duke on Sunday.
So, uh, when’s the last time Kansas lost an exhibition game at Allen Fieldhouse? Was Bill Self even alive?
A two-hour loop that just constantly goes back and forth between Louisville blitzing Kansas with threes and endless political commercials
