🚨 @NVIDIA just dropped LocateAnything, making object detection ~10x faster by fixing one core bottleneck:
How the model writes coordinates.
Standard AI models do visual grounding the slow way.
They predict coordinates piece by piece: Token 1, Token 2, Token 3, Token 4 etc.
LocateAnything stops treating boxes like text.
It looks at an object and predicts the complete set of coordinates at the exact same time.
Because it’s not waiting on itself to finish a "sentence," the speed gains are incredible:
→ 12.7 frames per second on a single H100
→ Dominates across dense object detection and GUI navigation
→ Outperforms much heavier 32-billion parameter models
.. and it's trained on a massive custom dataset of 138 million queries and 785 million bounding boxes.
Best part?
It's 100% free and open-source.

This has all the familiar hallmarks of the peak of an investment bubble
Stage 1: An influx of investor capital (i.e. dumb VCs with money burning a hole in their pocket) gives rise to fundamentally unprofitable business models (AI Labs)
Stage 2: This sends false price signals throughout the economy (i.e. selling compute at negative margins), causing massive misallocation of capital (businesses and employee workflows built around artificially cheap compute) .
Stage 3 (you are here): The false price signals inevitably clash with economic reality. In a race to show less horrific cash burn ahead of their IPOs, OpenAI and Anthropic have switched to consumption-based pricing models, and now we're suddenly finding out that companies like Uber and WalMart are cutting back on consumption
Stage 4 (coming to a stonk near you): Lots of paper wealth gets vaporized
🚨 Sam Altman warns OpenAi and Anthropic are experiencing severe pullback on Ai spending as companies put significant restraints on spending to restrict costs. The company warns investors it’s the first time this has happened in Ai and something we never expected. The buildout costs aren’t sustainable to allow profitability to hyperscalers or end users.

A simple way to ensure all information tied to a standard is easily accessible.
Inter-standard relationships can also be added to intelligently prompt engineers with other relevant standards they should consider.
Ready for the next industry problem to solve!

“A wake up call” the CEO of Britain’s biggest domestic energy firm told me last night about the possibility of long term impact to global gas and oil infrastructure… but he pointed to electrification as the main lesson, while domestic gas would be preferable to shipped gas:
“wake-up call that gets us to electrify more of our economy and get more of our energy from homegrown sources.”
"The irony is, right now, we're emailing millions of customers saying their energy prices are going to fall..."
"You can't protect yourself against these global markets forever."
"Traders are really worried about how long it's going to take these facilities to get back online."
"Our electricity system's too inefficient. We need to reform that markets so that people get the benefits of our homegrown resources."
“my own view is that shipping gas around the world is more inefficient and has more leaks of methane than if you use local gas. But we shouldn't kid ourselves. North Sea gas wouldn't meaningfully bring the price down because we're paying the global price. If we got more out of the North Sea, it would simply be sold to other countries at these very high prices or here at these high prices. And we can't kid ourselves we're going to be self-sufficient in gas again. What we can do is have a much cheaper approach to electricity than we have today. Our electricity system's too inefficient. We need to reform that markets so that people get the benefits of our homegrown resources.
"The irony is, right now, we're emailing millions of customers saying their energy prices are going to fall..."
Greg Jackson, CEO of Octopus Energy, says energy prices could be impacted if disruption in the Strait of Hormuz "is not over quite quickly".
