The Royals haven’t had a prospect w/this much juice since BWJ.
Difference?
BWJ was expected to be a top prospect in baseball. Gomez, though highly thought of and the Royals’ top international signing in 2026, didn’t have those kind of expectations.
Feels more like found money.
The hype around Royals prospect Angeibel Gomez is real. But is he to the level of the Giants' Josuar Gonzalez?

Catching up on AFL video and 17-year-old Angeibel Gomez turning around a 3-2 slider at 108 MPH for a double immediately stood out.
Double-A opponents hit roughly .120 against that slider this year with a whiff rate just shy of 50%. Safe to say Gomez is ahead of his years.
We talk Rose, Gomez, and Lamkin on our midweek episode for Substack subscribers.
