Feels like a lot of people seem to forget the context of the doc is that Elizabeth Holmes knows she’s going to jail and wants to “prove” that she’s innocent. If you feel like she was manipulated or just didn’t understand the problem with what she did, guess what? She fooled you!
Feels like a lot of people would’ve absolutely been scammed by her. The moment she tries to avoid answering a tough question from Nathan with “all I know is I love my family and I’m being taken from them 😭”, it was so obvious that she’ll just say whatever to get out of trouble.
“Everything is either edgy and r rated for adults or a cartoon” has always been a moronic sentiment but saying it after Wildwood, a pg 13 cartoon, released is especially dumb.
You can hate on military movies or Pratt all you want but I actually think we need more movies like this. Specifically, the live action PG and PG-13 movie. Everything now is edgy and R and for adults or a cartoon. If Karate Kid came out today you’d have a bunch of A24 disciples on Twitter talking about how bad it looks. This isn’t for you. We need more live action movies that kids and their parents can watch together. We’ve lost the Sandlots and Mighty Ducks and Mrs Doubtfires. I hope, at the very least, this does well enough to green light more family friendly movies.
every clip I’ve seen of this with a quote like “THIS HAS SET US BACK 50 YEARS” or “Let trans women make bad art” just feels like people getting mad that the story is explicitly trans and not a metaphor they can convince themselves is about something else.
A lot of this makes more sense when you understand that transphobia is also misogyny through a new lens. The facts don’t matter, trans women are viewed as men and “as we all know”, men are genetically stronger than women so therefore, they have an unfair advantage in sports.
Trans rights opponents say they want to protect women. But they tend to have a worse opinion of them.

Been thinking a lot about how when I was young, the internet was viewed as the place for bitter, friendless losers that hated everyone and how that sentiment seems to have vanished not because it stopped being true but because the internet became more socially acceptable.
People on here talk about Wildwood like somebody gets sawed in half Terrifier style and I’m gonna be so annoyed when I finally go see it and the content that’s “too extreme to bring your kids” is just some people dying onscreen with no blood like dozens of other kids movies.
