Draft MPD 2041 uses all fashionable terms but fails to deliver specific proposals, clear implementation pathways, budget estimates or assign responsibility for implementation.

Footpaths are not a privilege. They are a constitutional right.
In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court of India has affirmed that unobstructed access to footpaths is part of the fundamental Right to Life under Article 21.

Our regular reminder that when we’re driving, we’re not stuck in traffic.
We ARE traffic.
That’s a product of our individual choices, as well as our collective choices, including who we choose to give massive city-building powers to and the choices they make with that power.

Story 1 : MICA student friend kept asking for help for his injured friend but no one came forward.
Story 2 : 13 year old told his mother, we have to help him. She rushed bleeding Jain to hospital in her car. So proud of that kid.
Sadly, Jain succumbed to his injuries.

#Opinion | Transit-oriented development is not limited to making money from tall buildings near transit but also concerns sustainably improving accessibility and liveability in our cities.

The great thing about Brazilian cities - Rio and São Paulo is that they are designed for citizens to walk and cycle. Cities have been made for people and not for cars. These cities are far more sustainable and liveable. Indian cities must learn from this and create walking and cycling paths for citizens.

I prompted #OpenAI (Dall-E) to create an illustration of an Indian woman wearing a saree riding a bicycle on a cycle track protected from motor vehicle traffic, with happy Indian kids, boys and girls, playing on a wide sidewalk abutting the cycle track, shaded by large rain trees.
This is what Open AI produced giving two options.
What's your observation on this ?

Dear @AmdavadAMC by cutting full grown trees on Panjrapole for a flyover means that you are ensuring that more heat islands exits in the city.
Let’s find other alternative ways to reduce congestion than senseless felling of trees. @AMCommissioner 🙏🏼

🌏'India is a land of walkers. An estimated 45 million walk to work daily, compared with a mere 54 lakhs who use motorized personal transport. However, the infrastructure that is in place for road users is skewed against Non-motorised Transport (NMT), either pushing pedestrians to the margins of the road networks, or even worse, compelling them to jostle for space with motor vehicles, thereby exposing them to injury or death.'
-Geetam Tiwari, a professor at the Transportation Research and Injury Prevention Centre, IIT Delhi, emphasizes the need to prioritize pedestrians in road design through this article. 🚶🏻♀️🚶🏻🌳
⭕ Key points from the article include:
👉 A 2019 survey in selected cities revealed that 63% of all trips were walking trips, making pedestrians the largest category of road users.
👉 In urban areas, 31% of Indian workers walk to work.
👉 More women walk to work than men, with 55% of women walking compared to 28% of men.
👉Every public transport trip involves walking segments to access and exit, meaning at least 50% of urban commutes include walking.
👉 Pedestrian fatalities account for over 50% of all road traffic deaths in Delhi and Mumbai. The cost of pedestrian fatalities and injuries is estimated at Rs. 2,38,728 crore (MoRTH, 2020).
👉 Studies show that unenclosed travel modes in Delhi experience 10-40% higher particulate matter (PM) concentration than traveling in an air-conditioned car.
