ACP is deeply concerned about the impact of work requirements on Medicaid patients, who by definition have limited resources and income, and the downstream impact on physicians. We are fighting vigorously against government efforts that would that add to unnecessary physician burdens and divert time away from providing patient care. In addition to our ongoing advocacy efforts with CMS, we filed a lawsuit to oppose this new federal requirement that threatens Medicaid coverage for people with serious and chronic health conditions. Our priority is protecting patients and the physicians that care for them: bit.ly/4igM9SX

ICYMI: @ACPIMPhysicians joined with @AmerAcadPeds, the City of Columbus, and several Medicaid beneficiaries in suing the Administration over the Medicaid work requirements rule. Many individuals will lose coverage unnecessarily. archive.ph/abw7K

BREAKING: @ACPIMPhysicians joined patients, pediatricians, & other physician groups today in suing the Administration over its Medicaid work requirements rule, which unlawfully strips protections for medically frail patients. Millions of vulnerable Americans could lose coverage.
A new rule would unlawfully introduce barriers, including a work requirement, for people on Medicaid who are currently exempt. We’re challenging this rule to protect health coverage for thousands and ensure they don't miss appointments, lose access to meds, or experience worsening health symptoms.

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced eight new appointments to the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), who were selected through an unclear nomination process. These selections suggest that the historically independent panel could be used to advance the Trump administration's political and scientific agenda. A recent commentary published in Annals of Internal Medicine from Robert S. Lawrence, MD, the first chair of the USPSTF, and Steven H. Woolf, MD, MPH, its first scientific advisor, warned that political interference in the #USPSTF could upend evidence-based health policy and threaten access to preventive care. bit.ly/4ritDxV
