Forget the tactical aspect for a minute; the biggest reason I wanted Carrick gone is the visible decline in the team’s fitness.
By the way, the Ronaldo and Messi debate was the most pretentious and farcical thing in football history.
It was never close.

Great for your career but terrible for work life balance to be identified by engineering leadership as someone who can be handed a project and will just make it happen.

Last night I planted an olive tree at Gracie Mansion with Palestinian families from Gaza.
May peace be our future.
He’s describing what is commonly called Chinese “debt-trap diplomacy.”
China systematically makes loans it knows cannot be repaid and then takes political control or strategic assets in lieu of payment - a lot of African nations are screwed by this in many ways than you can ever imagine.
To be clear what I am describing is a society-wide capacity problem, not simply “uneducated or bad politicians make bad decisions.”
The deeper issue is that when weak education persists for decades, it eventually constrains both the govt’s capacity to govern and the public’s capacity to demand good governance or participate in reforms.
In Nigeria, you can think of it as a feedback loop
Weak education > weak institutional capacity > poor public services > weaker human development > weak accountability > continued weak education 🔁

RE🇳🇬: The educational level of the broader population affects what kind of governance can survive politically.
This doesn’t mean poorly educated people are unintelligent. Formal education and intelligence aren’t the same thing.
Rather, widespread deficiencies in literacy, numeracy, scientific understanding, civic knowledge and access to reliable information make certain collective problems substantially harder to solve.
Why is hard to solve waste management problems in Nigeria?
Why is it hard to stop police from setting up illegal checkpoints?
The reason is down to collective education.
For example, the govt is trying to introduce necessary but complicated reforms may need Nigerians to understand why benefits are delayed, why regulations are necessary, why taxes or user charges exist, why building codes matter, or why maintaining infrastructure is as important as constructing it.
When civic and educational institutions are weak, political competition can more easily revolve around immediate patronage, ethnic or religious mobilization, personalities (the Wikes and Tinubus) and visible short-term projects rather than less visible institutional reforms.
If someone has sent 1,000+ applications and gotten almost no interviews, the useful question probably isn’t “How do I get to 2,000?” It’s “Where is the funnel breaking?”
High application volume is evidence that your current strategy deserves diagnosis, not evidence that you as an applicant is inherently a bad fit.
+you’re probably applying to tons of ghost jobs already filled internally but posted for legal reasons.

“There is very little difference between one man and another; but what little there is, is very important.”
He’s not wrong. Even the current version the Grumman LLV, was designed with a planned service life of about 24 years.
Many entered service from 1987–1994, so surviving examples have been working for 30+ years, well beyond that original target.
I am a huge fan of using military grade durability designs for non-military machines.
