Great for your career but terrible for work life balance to be identified by engineering leadership as someone who can be handed a project and will just make it happen.

When India accidentally wiped out its vultures, half a million people died in five years. The bird doing zoomies in this video runs the most extreme digestive system in the animal kingdom. Vulture stomach acid sits near pH 1, strong enough to destroy anthrax, rabies, and botulism in the carcasses they eat. A flock strips a cow to bone in about 45 minutes. India had 50 million of them. Free sanitation at national scale, in a country where religious custom means most cattle die natural deaths and every dead cow becomes a carcass someone has to deal with. Then the patent on diclofenac expired in 1994. Farmers started using the cheap painkiller on livestock. Trace amounts left in a carcass cause kidney failure in vultures. Within a decade, 50 million birds fell to a few thousand. The fastest collapse of any bird species since the passenger pigeon. The carcasses didn't disappear. Feral dogs took the vultures' place and brought rabies with them. Rotting remains leached into waterways. In districts where vultures once thrived, human death rates rose more than 4 percent. Economists at Chicago and Warwick put the toll at 100,000 extra deaths a year and $69 billion in annual damages. So yes, the goofy bird sprinting down the walkway is adorable. It's also a disease firewall that evolution spent millions of years building and one generic painkiller nearly erased in ten.
I’ll never look at another Vulture the same again 😂

Prime Intellect engineer: "everyone's bragging about a million-token context. here's what they don't tell you. at 256k tokens GPT-5.5 scores 80% on retrieval. push it to a million and it drops to 36%. the model accepts the context, it just can't reason across it. people call it context rot." in a 20-minute talk he explains why bigger context windows won't save your agents. continual learning + training on your own traces + real environments - that's the fix. Watch the talk, then save!
Andrew Ng just dropped a free course on Claude Code from scratch, taught with the Anthropic team: 00:00 - why Claude Code is so agentic 04:00 - shockingly simple architecture 12:00 - point it at any codebase this short watch will replace 10 paid coding agent courses. Andrew Ng calls it his personal favorite coding assistant right now. Watch it today, then read how to engineer your own agent loops in the article below

I see your profile picture. That’s Johnny Cash. My hero too. Arrested seven times. Smuggled 668 amphetamines across the Mexican border in 1965. Took every drug there was and drank like I did. Cheated on his first wife. Slept with more woman than I ever did. Hit bottom in a cave in Tennessee in 1968 trying to crawl off and die. And then he got up. He got clean. He spent the rest of his life singing for prisoners and addicts and the people the country threw away because he knew he was one of them. That was the whole point of the Man in Black. He wore it for the poor and the beaten down. He wore it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime. He wore it for the ones who never heard a word of Jesus. He wore it for the addicted and the dying. He wore it as a standing witness that no one is past saving. You picked his picture. You did not pick his message. Try listening to the words.

i can help explain! the male mosquitos don’t bite at all (only the females do), and the males they are releasing in huge numbers are inoculated with a bacteria that makes them completely unable to reproduce. the idea is that female mosquitos who mate with them will have no offspring, creating a much smaller next generation (the same number of female mosquitos are mating, but now only a small fraction can possibly have offspring)!!! the fact that mosquitos are so deadly is the reason why they are doing this, because their hope is that it will result in less disease transmission going forward

Michael Carrick’s wife shouldn’t have ever apologised for posting what she said about Roy Keane in 2014, because even today it’s spot on – everything he does and says is for a reaction, pathetic.

Before this conversation, I thought I understood Bruno Fernandes. I knew the numbers. The goals, the assists, the leadership, the criticism he’s faced over the years at Manchester United. But I didn’t understand the mentality behind it. Bruno has arguably become United’s greatest player of the post-Ferguson era, carrying their creativity season after season. He’s won more club player of the year awards than Ronaldo, and only five players have scored more than his 70 league goals. So I went to Manchester United Training Ground to ask him questions the footballing world wants to know. Bruno spoke about growing up in Porto, watching his father sacrifice his own football career to provide for the family. He told me his dad never praised him for scoring goals. Instead, he’d point out the small things he still needed to improve. And somehow that mindset shaped one of the most resilient athletes in world football. We spoke about: - Why he believes character matters more than talent in elite teams. - How dressing room culture determines whether talent succeeds or fails. - Why taking risks is essential if you want to create anything extraordinary! - His honest opinion on pressure and why he thinks it’s a privilege. - His thoughts on having Michael Carrick as a manager. - Addressing Roy Keane’s criticism. When you listen to Bruno speak, you understand that what makes him exceptional isn’t just technical ability. It’s his standards. The standards he holds himself to. The standards he expects from teammates. The standards he believes define culture. I really respect how Bruno chose to join United during instability because he believed in rebuilding something meaningful rather than joining an “easy” project. I saw a much softer and more thoughtful side of Bruno that I don’t think people will expect. So, thank you Bruno for taking the time to sit down with me and for being so vulnerable. Even if you don’t care about football, there’s a huge amount to learn from this conversation about leadership, resilience and high performance.

Thank you. The important part is zeroing out taxes on the bottom half. Best way to put money in someone’s pocket is to not take it out in the first place. Bottom half is only 3% of total tax revenue. But it’s very meaningful to that person. Zero it out.
Facts It's great that Jeff Bezos thinks this way, because too many people who don't make money think that giving money to the government will solve a lot of their problems. They think these government programs are the answer, and it's clearly not. You can look at the federal level or at the state level, and you will see that a lot of government programs are simply waste.

Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed. Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us — one of home, tradition and memory over generations.
