🚩 CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER! 🚩 Dry vegetation and strong winds will increase wildfire danger across parts of California starting early Thursday morning. A Red Flag Warning is in effect: 🔹Portions of Lake County: 4 a.m. Thursday to 2 p.m. Thursday. In portions of Lake County, a Fire Weather Watch will take effect late Thursday night, after the Red Flag Warning expires, and remain in effect through Friday afternoon. Why does this matter? Dry vegetation can ignite easily, and strong winds can quickly spread flames into new areas, making wildfires harder to control and threatening nearby communities. Avoid any and ALL activities that could spark a wildfire. Keep your go-bag ready, know at least two evacuation routes, and be prepared to leave if an evacuation is ordered. 📲 Get wildfire information and alerts directly from first responders with the AwareCA app: aware.ca.gov 🔗 Visit ReadyForWildfire.org to learn how to prepare.

Why do we have a Coastal Flood Advisory out when the tide tables looks lower than normal? There is an extra foot of water in the Bay due in part to thermal expansion from warm El Niño waters in the Pacific. High tide flooding will become more frequent in the coming months.
A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect through 1 PM Thursday for bayshore locations along the San Pablo Bay. Minor coastal flooding can be expected during the highest high tide of the day. Do not venture around barricades or through water of unknown depth! #CAwx

Remember to always practice beach safety while enjoying your time along the coast. Know what to do if caught in a rip current and what to do as a bystander. Sneaker waves can catch beachgoers off guard and knock you down. Never turn your back on the ocean. #CAwx

In case you've noticed smoke & haze this morning in the sky, it is mainly coming from the Timber and Plaskett wildfire fires in the Big Sur area, moving northward into our area due to onshore winds. Much of this smoke is aloft, but some may reach the surface in some spots. #CAwx
