Exciting progress this week on the @PurpleLineMD @wmata Red Line interchange at Silver Spring! The escalators and canopy have been moved into position! This will look very cool when completed! 🚊🚇👷🏗️
Smart Growth Social last night with Yonah Freemark was a lot of fun! Thanks to @betterDCregion (CSG) for hosting an awesome event! It was great to see so many transit and urbanism advocates and professionals.
This section of the Purple Line, between Silver Spring and Chevy Chase is one of the straightest on the route. Hopefully trains will hit 55 MPH along here!
Connecticut Ave station on the Purple Line! Serving northern Chevy Chase, this station has a ton of new development in the surrounding area. The train and Capital Crescent trail cross busy Connecticut Ave on viaduct.
Lyttonsville Station on the Purple Line! This one is looking nearly done, and there’s a train/LRV parked nearby.
A north entrance at Baltimore Penn would be so great! There’s a lot on the north side of the station and the platforms basically extend to the underused parking lot of up there. The station is really cut off from the surrounding area.

I wish there were access to the station from the north side so it was quicker to walk, you can see where a second entrance could let people in as a shortcut from where you were standing

Renovated platforms at Baltimore Penn station (as opposed to the one on the end which was newly built.) These are good compared the the old ones with crumbling stairs!
Work on the Capital Crescent trail Silver Spring approach this week. This final section will take the trail into downtown Silver Spring, right past the Metro station.
Great to see the system support big events like this! Moving this kind of crazed efficiently is where Metro shines.
Sunday, the runners were out! We had 9,500 trips at Pentagon station before the start of the Army Ten-Miler and about 29,000 trips systemwide before 9 a.m.! Congrats to all the race participants and thank you for taking Metro to the starting line!

Manchester Place tunnel on the Purple Line. This tunnel lets the Purple Line go through the hilly area between Long Branch and Sligo Creek and includes a station serving the housing near Wayne Ave.
Long Branch station on the future Purple Line. Like many parts of the line, this one looks nearly done!
Two weeks later and the paving for this section of the MBT is done! Hopefully this opens soon!
