The story keeps getting crazier. To recap everything that has been reported so far: - The US intelligence community discovered that Jensen Huang, the CEO of the largest company in the world, was sleeping with Alice Huang, a Chinese spy and an executive at Megaspeed. (FT) - Multiple independent investigations have concluded that Megaspeed is likely a Chinese cutout, which helps Chinese companies access AI chips or circumvent export controls. (NYT and Bloomberg) - The US intelligence community also concluded that Alice Huang’s goal was to convince Jensen to lobby the U.S. government to loosen export controls on advanced AI chips. (NYT) - The intelligence community relayed this information to “a small group of top US government officials” earlier this year. (FT) - Over the last year, Jensen Huang has repeatedly lobbied the U.S. government to loosen export controls on advanced chips. @BISgov has done so, not only by permitting the export of H200 chips to China, but also not enforcing export controls that would have required a license for exports of the most advanced Blackwell chips to Megaspeed and Southeast Asia. - Although @CommerceGov leadership was presumably briefed on this information by the U.S. intelligence community, @BISgov has taken no actions to tighten controls on Megaspeed or Southeast Asia. - Megaspeed remains a preferred cloud partner of Nvidia, and continues to receive Nvidia Blackwell chips despite employing a Chinese spy who reportedly is romantically engaged with the CEO of Nvidia. - Tens of billions of dollars worth of AI chips have been exported to Southeast Asia this year alone, and Malaysia and Singapore are now two of the four largest importers of AI chips in the world. What is going on here??? We need answers. The question of who gets the most advanced AI chips in the world is literally the defining strategic question of our time. And not only does it seem like the MSS may be directly influencing the debate on export controls in the United States, but also @CommerceGov is refusing to listen to the warnings of the IC on this issue. What is a POSSIBLE good explanation for why Megaspeed is still receiving chips? Why is there not a license requirement for AI chip shipments to all of Southeast Asia? This is beyond strange at this point. The fallout from this story will be massive. Obviously, the motivations underpinning Nvidia’s policy views opposing export controls must now all be questioned. But also, how did @BISgov sit on this information and has still taken no actions? We need answers.

We need an electoral college on the state level. There are too many people distributed so unevenly for a straight popular vote to be sustainable going forward. Over half the population of New York State lives in the NY metro area and Long Island. They have an outsized influence in who runs the state. Upstate New York might as well be a different country compared to the City. Rural farmland, beautiful mountains. People who live much different lives and live at the mercy of politicians and governors elected by and working at the behest of the five boroughs. Upstate and Western New York deserve to have a chance to have a voice in state government. They deserve to have actual representation so their interests aren’t sacrificed to satisfy the idealism of New York City. Democrats will never allow such a plan to take place, though. It would mean Republicans actually having a chance at the governor’s office again. The only other option is splitting the state in 2. I would prefer to avoid this outcome.

U.S. forces in the Middle East are prepared to launch new, potentially major operations against Iran “within 96 hours of receiving” an order from President Donald J. Trump, according to two U.S. officials who spoke to CNN. The officials say sufficient forces are in the region and the scope would go beyond “mowing the lawn,” meaning strikes on radars and launchers that can be quickly rebuilt. CNN reports officials believe an order could come before the end of the year, most likely after the November 3rd midterm elections. Officials also said President Trump has not made a final decision, appears to lean toward major action, and has backed off at the last moment before. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and Pentagon leaders have built a target list covering Iranian energy infrastructure, military sites and nuclear facilities. Sources told CNN that Iran and the Houthis would likely retaliate immediately against U.S. personnel and facilities in the region but are unlikely to launch preemptive attacks now. She walked pass police who let her into the capital it was not trespassing. Unarmed 14-year Air Force veteran. Senior Airman. Deployed. She did not break that window. She punched the agitator trying to smash it. She was trying to stop the breach. Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd shot her through the glass from a concealed position. No clear warning she could act on. No assessment of her hands. No threat to him or anyone else. Police officers were in the line of fire behind her. She was the one standing in front of the bullet that could have hit them. Byrd violated every protocol for deadly force against someone who posed no immediate danger. He fired, then walked. Closed investigation. No trial. Promoted and protected. If the same Democrat protocol was used for any ICE protester they all would be shot dead that is not how Republicans cinduft Law and Order, BUT EXACTLY what Democrats would do and have done.
