The SDG Advocates embarked on the 2nd stage of their seven-month Global Citizenship Education (GCE) training project. Gathered at the ancient battleground of Moytura, a place steeped in myth, courage, and transformation, they stand at the threshold of their own adventure. Like the heroes of old, they hear and accept the call to adventure, stepping beyond the familiar into a journey of learning, leadership, and global responsibility. Inspired by the legacy of those who once faced great challenges on this sacred ground, the Advocates began a quest that will test their skills, deepen their understanding, and empower them to become champions for the Sustainable Development Goals in their communities and beyond.

🌟 Meet the people behind Development Perspectives 🌟
Next in our team introductions, we’re delighted to introduce Nick Doran, Saolta’s Programme Manager.
Nick brings a fascinating background in Media and Critical Linguistics, which he has shared through his work with youth groups and universities. He is passionate about equality and sustainability, and has written extensively on the ways power is distributed unequally across society.
Always curious and full of ideas, Nick is someone who loves asking questions, exploring perspectives, and is liable to be drawn into a spontaneous debate.
Outside of work, Nick is a kayaker, an adventure enthusiast, a board games aficionado, and a kimchi lover.
We’re so lucky to have Nick’s energy, insight, and passion helping shape the Saolta programme and the learning experiences it creates.

🌟 Meet the people behind Development Perspectives 🌟
We’re excited to start introducing some of the amazing people who make our work possible, beginning with our co-founder and CEO, Bobby Mc Cormack.
Bobby has been at the heart of Development Perspectives from the very beginning, helping shape our vision and our commitment to creating a fairer, more just world. With a background as a Senior Lecturer in Humanities at Dundalk Institute of Technology, an MA in Development Studies, and is a qualified mediator. Bobby brings both deep knowledge and a real passion for education, justice, and positive change.
Alongside his role with us, Bobby also serves as Chairperson of IDEA and previously sat on the board of Dóchas. In 2017, his dedication to global citizenship was recognised when he received the Dóchas Global Citizen of the Year Award.
We’re so proud to have Bobby leading the way and inspiring the work we do every day. 📷📷
Stay tuned as we continue to introduce more of the wonderful team behind Development Perspectives.

🚨 Help spread the word – urgent community request 🚨
🚨 Sharing on behalf of a local project team – urgent community request 🚨
We're sharing this on behalf of the organisers of an important cross-border democracy project happening around Carlingford Lough.
Following on from the Shifting Tides project, a Citizens’ Jury on the Future of Carlingford Lough is bringing people together from both sides of the border to help shape what comes next for this shared landscape.
A diverse group of local residents will be invited to look at key issues such as:
Nature recovery and economic activity
Access and protection
Tourism and local livelihoods
Over Christmas, 5,000 invitations were sent out. While the northern shore received theirs, a delay with An Post means many households on the southern shore may not receive their invitation before the deadline.
They don’t want anyone to miss out.
📍 If you know anyone living in Greenore, Omeath, Carlingford, or anywhere along the southern shore of the Lough, please share this post today.
📝 Register your interest here:
sortitionfoundation.org/carl…
📞 Or call freephone: 1800 100 061 (8am–8pm daily)
⏰ The registration deadline has been extended to Friday 23 January 2026.
This is a unique chance for communities north and south to shape the future of Carlingford Lough — please help spread the word so every voice has a chance to be heard.
