There was also definitely a youthquake!
Voters under 35 and in particular Democrats under 35 turned out at much higher rates than in 2022, and young precincts swung nearly 15 points back toward Democrats from 2024.

Also maybe a little poetic that Hinojosa beat Abbott by the same 53%-46% that W ousted Ann Richards by.
Replying to @DjsokeSpeaking
No disrespect to Talarico bc he did phenomenally, but Paxton is also a WOAT candidate. Hinojosa built that campaign from nothing against someone people thought was teflon and then outran every other state office + the generic ballot
Just an all-timer

Wiener's campaign also barred our 48 Hills reporter: 48hills.org/2026/11/democrat…
Scott Wiener's campaign has barred our reporter from covering his election night party.
They specifically cited our coverage of Wiener's positions on Israel.
It's an unbecoming move from someone who could serve as San Francisco's next congressperson.

Blue Texas 2026 is not possible without Beto in 2018. There was 0 infrastructure here for the Democratic party, and 0 support from the national party. He, along with thousands of volunteers, built the infrastructure from the ground up and never stopped after the election.
You know who really loves Texas?
@BetoORourke loves Texas. He has not stopped marching, knocking on doors, speaking loud …. I hope people know how much he’s done if Texas flips.

Abbott had infinite money, and I think most thought he'd be the last statewide R to go down
Everyone was too afraid to run against him, so Hinojosa herself ran, and then put up one of the best statewide campaigns ever to have the second-largest victory in the state

I feel its only responsible to acknowledge that Ken Paxton, Greg Abbott and Dan Patrick were actually among the most gracious in defeat last night. I will admit, I did not expect it and they proved me wrong.

Everybody mentioned that for Talarico to win Texas, he had to win Denton and Collin Counties. He did that, taking Denton by 8 points and Collin by 12. But there's more: Kaufman County went blue. And while Ellis stayed red, it shifted 27 points left. The full Metroplex went blue. – at Gettysburg, PA

One stunning stat for you: As of mid July 2025, Hinojosa's campaign (she had yet to declare her gubernatorial run) had a shade under $25,000 on hand.
Abbott's campaign at the time had more than $86 million on hand. #txpolitics

I don’t think anybody realises just how far reaching this impact is going to be. Texas is so enormous that school curriculums here affect textbooks and by extension other schools curriculums all over the country!

Well all of this happened and then the Democrats won everything statewide by double digits
I legitimately think that this was a realignment election for TX, obviously it’s still a nominally R leaning state but it’s now also a true swing state

noticing how no one said shit about the louisiana senate race but my man jamie davis lost by less than 2% !!! black dems in the south show up and imagine if they had support by the national party FUCK
This article gives a great flavor of the differences in the campaigns and their supporters. Mission Local wasn't the only media outlet Scott Wiener tried to ban from his watch party. San Franciscans and the country really missed out not having Connie Chan in Congress.
Scott Wiener's team banned Gazetteer from attending his watch party last night... then reversed course when I showed up.
Then came Connie Chan's party. The vibes couldn't have been more different: Less celebratory, and more a call to keep fighting.

Yep, I have said before and now think even more think the Republican ads may even have helped Talarico (and Hinojosa).

I like that Wiener campaign showed it’s hand as soon as the polls closed. Straight to trying to control local media. Something to think about and watch for those who aren’t that familiar with him.

Jamie Davis came within 1.8 points of flipping a U.S. Senate seat in Louisiana.
From Oct 12–25, national Dem committees and allied groups spent millions on ads in other close Senate races. In LA, that figure was $0, exl spending by Jamie’s own campaign and the LADP.
