Indiana still 6th in the AP poll. Excited to see a top 15 matchup in Memorial Stadium this weekend.
(Also check out Wake Forest at 11th!)
Keep in mind beating an opponent actually contributes to lowering your teams SOS and SOR because it adds one more loss to that teams record…

🏈 CFP TOP 25 PREDICTIONS 📊
Saturday delivered one of the wildest slates of the college football season.
No. 1 Miami falls. Georgia humiliates Ole Miss. Tennessee dismantles Kentucky. Oregon storms into Columbus and takes down Ohio State.
So where does the CFP committee go from here?
We’ve evaluated the previous rankings, season-long résumés, strength of schedule, quality wins, head-to-head results, and the committee’s historical tendencies.
🚨 These are NOT our personal rankings. These are our predictions for how the CFP committee will rank teams Tuesday, including the perceived SEC bias that has historically influenced the rankings.
🏆 PROJECTED CFP TOP 25
1. Georgia Bulldogs ⬆️ (2)
2. Utah Utes ⬆️ (3)
3. Alabama Crimson Tide ⬆️ (5)
4. Texas Longhorns ⬆️ (7)
5. Indiana Hoosiers ⬇️ (4)
6. Notre Dame Fighting Irish ⬆️ (11)
7. Tennessee Volunteers 🚀 (13)
8. Miami Hurricanes ⬇️ (1)
9. UCLA Bruins ⬇️ (8)

11. Wake Forest Demon Deacons ⬆️ (16)
12. BYU Cougars ⬇️ (9)
13. Kentucky Wildcats ⬇️ (6)
14. Ole Miss Rebels ⬇️ (10)
15. Houston Cougars ⬆️ (17)
16. Oregon Ducks ⬆️ (23)
17. Iowa Hawkeyes ⬆️ (19)

22. LSU Tigers ⬇️ (14)
23. Missouri Tigers ⬇️ (18)
24. Boise State Broncos ⬆️ (25)
25. Duke Blue Devils 🆕
*Texas Tech’s placement assumes a victory over West Virginia.
🔥 BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS
🐶 GEORGIA CLAIMS NO. 1
A 42–7 road demolition of No. 10 Ole Miss, combined with Miami’s loss, should put Georgia atop the rankings.
🐘 SEC BIAS PUTS ALABAMA AND TEXAS AHEAD OF INDIANA
Alabama dominates No. 14 LSU 31–13. Texas handles No. 18 Missouri 34–20.
Meanwhile, Indiana sits idle.
We expect the committee to reward the ranked SEC victories and place both ahead of the Hoosiers.
Does Indiana deserve to drop? Not necessarily. But we’re predicting the committee, not making our own rankings.
☘️ NOTRE DAME FINALLY GETS ITS SIGNATURE WIN
The Irish defeat No. 1 Miami 31–24, earning arguably the most important victory of the weekend.
We project a five-spot jump to No. 6.
🍊 TENNESSEE GETS REWARDED
The Volunteers dismantle No. 6 Kentucky 34–6 and already own a 26–10 head-to-head victory over Alabama.
Despite that, we believe the committee will keep Alabama higher based on the overall résumé.
Tennessee jumps Miami and UCLA to No. 7.
🌴 MIAMI FALLS TO NO. 8
A seven-point road loss at Notre Dame isn’t disastrous, but the Hurricanes no longer have an undefeated résumé.
With multiple SEC contenders strengthening their cases, we expect Miami to slide seven spots.
📉 BYU FALLS, BUT NOT OFF A CLIFF
Losing 28–20 on the road against undefeated No. 3 Utah shouldn’t warrant an enormous punishment.
BYU also owns a head-to-head victory over Notre Dame.
We project the Cougars at No. 12, remaining ahead of several three-loss contenders.
🦆 OREGON CLIMBS, BUT THREE LOSSES STILL MATTER
A 41–28 victory at Ohio State is a tremendous résumé-building win.
However, jumping from No. 23 into the top 12 would require the committee to overlook significant concerns about Oregon’s overall body of work.
Our prediction: No. 16.
👀 FIRST FIVE OUTSIDE THE TOP 12
13. Kentucky
14. Ole Miss
15. Houston
16. Oregon
17. Iowa
The committee has some difficult decisions ahead, particularly when comparing two-loss teams with stronger records against three-loss teams with better signature victories.
And remember, the top 12 ranked teams aren’t necessarily the 12 playoff participants. Conference champion automatic qualifiers can change the field.
📊 PREDICTING THE COMMITTEE ≠ AGREEING WITH THE COMMITTEE.
Our projections account for how the committee has historically evaluated conference strength, quality wins, losses, and strength of schedule.
That includes a perceived SEC advantage, whether fans agree with it or not.
💬 THREE BIG QUESTIONS:
🔹 Should Alabama and Texas jump Indiana?
🔹 Does Tennessee deserve to rank ahead of Miami?
🔹 Is BYU at No. 12 too harsh after a close loss at Utah?

Sampson James was the highest rated recruit Indiana had signed in the modern rankings era, and a few years later he was living on the street in Austin with almost nothing but an IU backpack.
He grew up in Avon, just west of Indianapolis. Four stars. He gave a verbal commitment to Ohio State before he changed his mind and stayed home.
As a freshman in 2019 he ran for 118 yards on 22 carries at Purdue, and Indiana won that game.
Outside of that one afternoon, he carried the ball 91 times for 253 yards across two seasons there.
Then he hurt his knee. He had put his name in the transfer portal once before that, back in March of 2020, and decided to stay.
He transferred to Purdue after the 2021 season. He came back to Indiana as a walk-on in the spring of 2023 and did not make the fall roster.
He left school that year without a degree.
He ended up in Austin, Texas, and he was out there about eight months.
The backpack was the thing he still had. An Indiana athletics backpack, faded, the kind they hand out to players.
A man named Jasper Steinmetz spotted it on a trail. He had graduated from Indiana himself.
"I saw the Indiana University athletic backpack, and since I had just graduated from Indiana, we had that commonality," Steinmetz said.
He figured there was no reason not to go say something. So he did.
Before there was a fundraiser or a dollar of anybody else's money, Steinmetz was already bringing him clothes and food and whatever else he needed that week.
They talked for a while, and somewhere in it Steinmetz worked out who he was talking to.
"He was an amazing athlete, really a standout star," Steinmetz said.
"He told me he went to IU as well. So I was like, wow, that's amazing, go Hoosiers," James said.
"He was able to grasp and understand me and come to a point of understanding."
In June, Steinmetz started a fundraiser for him. It brought in $17,000.
Some of it came from men James used to play alongside. Mike Katic, Peyton Hendershot, Aaron Casey and CJ West all put money in.
"We just prepaid a bunch of rent and got him everything that he needed for the apartment," Steinmetz said.
They got him clothes, food, furniture, and an address. The rent was paid ahead so there would not be a month where the whole thing came apart on him.
Later the two of them walked back out to the same trail where a stranger had recognized a backpack.
"Now that all these people donated and you got the apartment, they really want to see you succeed," Steinmetz told him.
"Oh yeah, and I'm big on not letting them down," James said.

This is the idiocy we get from the people who run schools - yes I’m sure the line item breaking the budget is JV and freshmen sports. I bet cutting one of the many useless and unnecessary administrators from the payroll would cover the cost and then some. The problem isn’t a lack of funding. It is never a lack of funding

No JV.
