Well said! Sobell ice rink is important to the local community, it shaped me to who I am today, I was a boy from an Islington council estate and Sobell ice rink was the start of my journey to a better life. Sort it out @Cllr_NTuran

.@Cllr_NTuran in the @islingtongztte “the ice rink had 590 users per week, rather than the originally stated 475. We apologise for any confusion". Yet @IslingtonBC's report still states 489 users. This flawed consultation shows the council's contempt for the #islington community

We are disappointed by @IslingtonBC's Sobell ice rink decision report which still contains erroneous information. The pre-determined, ill-informed report treats the community with contempt. Questions submitted to Full Council are still unanswered. @Cllr_NTuran has gone on leave.

THE FIGHT CONTINUES...
We are calling on the community to WRITE TO ISLINGTON COUNCILLORS requesting that the decision is 'called in' to ensure the decision is fully reviewed. They have until 2nd August to call in the decision.

Reminder to all! This is how you can help🤍
Islington needs genuine, local, diverse sport. Future generations should enjoy the same opportunities we've had to learn to skate and participate in sports locally. SaveSobell.co.uk

Islington Labour would be making a mistake to close down the borough's only ice rink
We're calling on local Councillors to join us @islingtongreens and call the decision in

Campaigners who want the ice rink back at the Sobell Centre brought a carnival of protest to the steps of the Town Hall throughout last night's full council meeting

She also very eloquently made a really important point that spaces for teenage girls in Islington are very limited. We have lots of funding going into great new football pitches which have limited appeal to teenage girls.

A fantastic demonstration and excellent petition speech at the council meeting. 👏👏👏 We couldn’t agree more that sports facilities that appeal strongly to teenage girls need investing in as much as the football and cricket pitches.
Massive thank you to all who joined us in our protest last night! We are eternally grateful & we will continue to keep fighting to save our sport, and to save our home. SAVE SOBELL ICE RINK 📍💪🏽⛸
