A church can hold centuries of history and still be part of ordinary life: bells over the rooftops, a choir practising, someone unlocking the door.
That is what this page is here to share. Britain’s churches, inside and out, through real videos, photographs and the stories of the people around them. Grand cathedrals and tiny chapels, remarkable details and familiar parish routines.
We want to help save British churches and protect the heritage they hold: our history, Christian traditions and the places that have brought communities together for generations.
Follow this page and share our posts to help more people discover these churches and care about their future. Know a church, story or local tradition we should feature? Send us a DM.
⛪ Six layers of 12th-century carving survived Eliza Wingfield’s 1792 partial rebuilding at St Peter’s, Tickencote, Rutland.
⛪ Only the tower survives at Old St Matthew’s, Lightcliffe, West Yorkshire, after the rest of the church was demolished in 1971.
⛪ Rounded arches meet sharp-cut diamonds on the rectangular font at St Peulan’s, Llanbeulan, Anglesey.
Three church sites share one churchyard in Reepham, Norfolk-one for each of the former parishes of Reepham, Whitwell and Hackford. ⛪
Ride and Stride cyclists aim to fund St Peter’s, Corpusty repairs with half their proceeds, and Norfolk Churches Trust grants with the other half. 🚲
That stonework deserves a much slower walk round.
Calm before the storm? Beautiful autumnal day today. @VisitScotland
