This is not benign and the author of this should be brought to account.
Nearly three years later, I had a chance to actually look in the book since it is now being sold in a museum in Devon! Many lies in here. DNA shows "11% of people in Roman York were black" - there are literally NO confirmed black samples from Roman York! They just made that up! Early European Farmers in Britain had "dark brown skin" - No. The page depicting Tudor England is a joke!

So there we have it. Probably the highest day ever in the BM at over £52 million The final number tends to be a bit higher than the trading figure reported by LCP This is what Connect & Manage has done... We spent £52 million because we had to throw away wind in Scotland that we built despite knowing we can't use it Plus NESO not curtailing it before the DA auction meaning instead of gas plant self dispatching it has to be bid on in the BM @Miatsf @mgshanks @AndrewBowie_MP @ClaireCoutinho @harrietc @ColinMoynihanUK @drlukeevans @ashley7fox @TiceRichard @cmackinlay @DavidGHFrost @mattwridley @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @EdConwaySky @afneil @mattotele @jonathan_leake @julietsamuel @energygovuk

The US Major sighs to stay calm, when you can tell he wants to pull the Afghan police chief apart like warm bread. That always stayed with me.
Friend of mine, very lowkey guy, said he wishes he could have killed more Afghani "warlords." It's an evil at scale we can't even begin to comprehend in the U.S. Sure we have occasional serial killers. Over there, it's a house of horrors in every tent.

@neso_energy just put out this system warning.... It's too windy in Scotland but not enough turn down capacity notified in the BM which is threatening to breach constraints If it's not one thing it's another It should be pretty clear by now that the grid is not keeping pace with the changes being imposed on it by net zero and CP2030 policies @Miatsf @mgshanks @AndrewBowie_MP @ClaireCoutinho @harrietc @ColinMoynihanUK @drlukeevans @ashley7fox @TiceRichard @cmackinlay @DavidGHFrost @mattwridley @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @EdConwaySky @afneil @mattotele @jonathan_leake @julietsamuel @energygovuk @ofgem

My report makes six key recommendations: Fix the broken understanding of how the gas market works. Policymakers should recognise that British gas production is not sold on global markets at a global price. The GB gas market uses marginal pricing and additional domestic production displaces more expensive LNG imports, thereby reducing British gas prices. The report argues that claims that additional UK production cannot affect domestic prices are simply wrong. Increase UK Continental Shelf gas production. Domestic gas should be preferred to imports wherever possible. UKCS gas is both cheaper and cleaner than imported LNG and provides a secure source of supply directly connected to the British gas network. Reduce reliance on electricity imports. Britain is increasingly depending on electricity imports during periods of low domestic renewable generation. However, highly correlated weather patterns mean low wind generation in Britain can coincide with shortages elsewhere. The report warns that Norway and France cannot be assumed to provide unlimited electricity to their neighbours during periods of stress. Model gas and electricity security together. The gas grid transports far more energy than the electricity network. Electrifying heating will take decades while gas-fired generation will remain critical to electricity security for years to come. The report argues that planning should recognise the interdependencies of gas and electricity to a greater extent. Focus on cheap energy. Rapidly rising network costs are overtaking fuel costs as the main driver of energy bills. The report calls for tighter control of network expenditure and for the suspension of the Connect & Manage regime, arguing that consumers should not be required to fund expensive infrastructure whose output is frequently constrained or wasted. Treat energy security as national security. The government should subject energy policy to an explicit national-security test, prioritising resilience, diversity of supply, sufficient domestic energy capacity and the preservation of strategically important industrial capability alongside affordability and sustainability. watt-logic.com/wp-content/up…

The NCSC is encouraging UK organisations to prepare for immediate updating of systems using PHP. Where immediate remediation is not feasible, organisations should consider taking the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. For more⬇️ ncsc.gov.uk/news/critical-se…

Another excellent report from Kathryn.
Yesterday various reports into grid security and NESO governance around 23 June were published @neso_energy and @mgshanks immediately seized on the statement by Eversheds that its "investigation has not substantiated any of the allegations”. Shanks said there was "no evidence" to support the allegations which is plainly not what Eversheds said nor what the report contains At every turn, Eversheds took the most generous interpretation possible to NESO's benefit. Areas of concern were repeatedly identified and not followed up with rigour. A lack of evidence was taken as evidence to the contrary despite obvious limitations to the investigation process in terms of independence (Eversheds was appointed by NESO) and anonymity (some witnesses eg the Power System Manager would be easily identifiable to NESO staff and senior execs, potentially limiting what they would be willing to say) Eversheds identified that important logs were not kept in the week of 22 June, despite engineers having identified ahead of time that risks would be elevated. Yet they did not explore why, or check that the reports had not been either deleted or simply withheld from them They identified the possibility of mobile phones being used to pass on undue influence from the Corporate Affairs team but only checked the phone records of the PSM, not their line manager or other more senior people - yet elsewhere it mentions a manager coming to the control room when a demand control warning was being considered and when they left it was no longer being considered - a senior manager could speak by phone or in person to Corporate Affairs and pass on the concerns in person to the PSM - there is no evidence Eversheds considered this despite identifying the pieces of the puzzle Eversheds identified significant weaknesses in record-keeping, a culture of reputational sensitivity, concerns that staff were not listened to by senior management, and uncertainty about whether the correct operational escalation procedures had been followed on 23 June It also recorded that five network constraints had been breached with no available pre- or post-action mitigation options, with confusion about whether the largest loss was covered, and even what the impact of a single fault would have been NESO admitted in its interim report to Ofgem that 5 grid constraints were breached despite having strongly suggested to the press that they had not It also said that on 23 June it had taken “all available and commercially accessible” balancing actions while frequency remained significantly below its normal operating range despite automatic frequency response services responding to prevent further falls So what reserve was left, and why was it not deployed? If reserves were not available or commercially accessible then they would be useless – did NESO retain enough usable reserve to cover the largest loss or not? Anyone that thinks these reports exonerate NESO and that concerns over grid security can be dismissed is dreaming. The reports show there is no room for complacency. In my blog I list about 20 risks to grid security which ought to give readers an idea of the range of threats it faces The question is whether anything will be done about it. @ofgem still expects NESO to mark its own homework, something other regulators of safety critical systems do not do If the conclusion when the final reports come in is that the grid wasn't secure then there will be serious questions for both Ofgem and NESO to answer about the self-reporting process because the only reason the issues surrounding 23 June have been investigated at all was because @ClaireCoutinho stood up in Parliament TWICE and sounded the alarm (with due credit to the whistleblower who approached her in the first place) #EnergySecurity @Miatsf @AndrewBowie_MP @HarrietCross_MP @ColinMoynihanUK @drlukeevans @Ashley7Fox @TiceRichard @cmackinlay @DavidGHFrost @mattwridley @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @afneil @EdConwaySky @mattotele @Jonathan__Leake @CitySamuel @energygovuk watt-logic.com/2026/10/20/ne…

Another person who has read the Eversheds report and identified the flaws... The allegations that NESO changed logs and reports to hide what went on were not substantiated... But various logs and reports are done in Word/Excel where changes over write previous content and there's no version control Meaning you can't tell if they were changed or not No evidence to support the allegation because the systems are literally set up such that you wouldn't be able to see if it was true (not saying thats the intention of the systems, just that it's how they work) Hardly compelling
Just how close did Britain's electricity grid come to collapse on 23 June? Allegations began circulating soon after that date of a cover-up by the National Energy Systems Operator (NESO). While external observers could see that something abnormal was happening, with the frequency of the grid falling below operational limits for several hours, NESO quickly denied that anything was wrong. They claimed that the grid was ‘not at risk’, an assertion which was repeated by energy minister Michael Shanks in the Commons. ✍️ Ross Clark Article | spectator.com/article/how-cl… | @RossjournoClark

The case of @IsabelVSpruce - repeatedly prosecuted for silently praying in Britain's streets - shows how the liberal state is criminalising the practice of Christianity:
Arrested for Praying Silently: Britain's War on Christians A UK pro-life leader faces legal harassment for silently praying outside an abortion center, while a history teacher lost her job for expressing pro-life views to students, Britain is criminalizing Christian conscience. @frankwrighter
