⚖️ An Iraqi asylum seeker who threatened to r*pe a nurse, abused 999 call handlers and spat on a police officer has been jailed for 13 months. Adil Sulamen, 38, repeatedly made abusive and s*xual threats to emergency call handlers before being taken to hospital under the Mental Health Act. At hospital, he damaged a room, threatened to wait for a nurse to finish her shift so he could r*pe her, and demanded she replace his damaged phone with a new iPhone. His behaviour continued in custody. When an officer intervened after he began making a ligature in his cell, Sulamen spat on the back of the officer’s head. Liverpool Crown Court heard he arrived in Britain in 2024 and was living in Home Office-arranged accommodation in Manchester while awaiting an asylum decision. Recorder Eric Lamb acknowledged his difficulties and expressed hope he would receive appropriate support in prison. As he was escorted from the dock, Sulamen reportedly shouted insults at the judge. 13 months in prison for a string of incidents targeting emergency workers and hospital staff. Source UK Database.

In my books, this is a deserving case of a life for a life. RIP Little One. ⚖️ A man has been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend’s 13-week-old baby boy in a horrific attack in Kent. Tyla Wharmby, 24, was looking after little Hunter Hodges overnight while the child’s mother, Shannon, slept. He was not Hunter’s biological father. Canterbury Crown Court heard the baby suffered a fatal skull fracture and catastrophic brain injuries caused by a “severe direct impact” to the head — comparable to injuries seen in a high-speed motorcycle collision or a fall from multiple levels. Hunter’s mother called 999 after finding his head swollen and “really, really squishy”, saying he screamed whenever she touched it. Wharmby claimed he had woken to find a lump on the baby’s head, before later discovering severe swelling at the back of his skull. Phone evidence showed Wharmby had visited a pornography website just 10 minutes before the ambulance was called. A post-mortem also revealed an older, healed brain bleed, which prosecutors alleged was consistent with an earlier episode of shaking. Wharmby, of Ramsgate, denied murder and grievous bodily harm with intent but was found guilty of murder today. Source UK Database.

They always walk amongst us. 🚨 HULL PAEDOPHILE HUNTER DECOYS: MAN JAILED FOR TWO YEARS Gavin Stubbs, 48, was caught after turning up at a Hull pub to meet people he believed were young teenage girls. Stubbs had sent graphic sexual messages to two Facebook decoys, asked them to be his girlfriends and attempted to arrange meetings. When confronted by paedophile hunters, he claimed he was there to meet an adult — but phone numbers linked him to the conversations. No real children were involved, but Hull Crown Court heard the intended harm was serious. Stubbs admitted four offences involving sexual communication, grooming and attempts to engage a child in sexual activity. The judge ruled that only immediate custody was justified. He was jailed for two years, handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years. Source UK Database.

Make it make sense. ⚖️ A teenager caught making indecent images of children, including the most serious Category A material, has walked free from court without being placed on the S*x Offenders’ Register. Adam Carmichael, now 18, was 17 when he committed the offences. He pleaded guilty to two counts of making indecent images after police traced an online account to his home in East Malling, Kent. His sentence? A 24-month community order, 200 hours of unpaid work and mental health treatment. Prosecutors also asked for his iPad to be destroyed. Magistrates instead ordered it reset to factory settings and returned to him. He will not face S*x Offenders’ Register notification requirements, the court heard. Source UK Database.

🚨 CONVICTED CHILD RAPIST ALLEGEDLY USING FAKE NAME ON FACEBOOK William Cooper was jailed for raping a 12-year-old girl after befriending her on Snapchat and luring her to meet him. Cooper was 17 when he attacked the child in a field near a primary school in December 2019. He later admitted rape at Bolton Crown Court and was sentenced to four years in prison. The court heard the girl repeatedly told him to stop, but he continued. As she fled in tears, he threatened her, warning her not to tell anyone. She remained silent for six days before breaking down and telling a pastoral care teacher. The attack left her frightened around men and boys, struggling in lessons and fearing people walking behind her. Cooper claimed he thought she was closer to 15, but the judge said he had done nothing to check her age and knew she was below the age of consent. He was also given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life. Cooper is now reportedly using the name “Lee Cooper” on Facebook. Source UK Database.

⚖️ A married man who groomed a vulnerable 14-year-old girl for sex, manipulated her into believing they were in a relationship and took her to hotels has been jailed for 11 years. Shoaib Mohammed, 34, of Sheffield, contacted the girl on Snapchat in 2021, encouraged her to send sexualised images and arranged for her to travel from Leicester to meet him. He drove her to a quiet street in the Manchester area, where he had sex with her in a car, before taking her to hotels in Sheffield over several days. He repeatedly left her alone for hours while continuing with his normal life. The victim’s family reported her missing. Mohammed panicked when he learned police were searching for her and drove her back to Sheffield railway station. He pleaded guilty to nine offences, including sexual activity with a child and possessing indecent images of children. Sentencing him at Leicester Crown Court, Judge Keith Raynor said Mohammed had exploited the girl’s emotional vulnerability and wanted to isolate her from her friends. The judge described the victim’s impact statement as one of the most powerful he had heard in his judicial career. Mohammed must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence, followed by three years on extended licence. He was also given a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

🌎 MAIDSTONE - BEWARE ⚠️ 🚨 A convicted child sex offender classified as dangerous has reportedly returned to Maidstone, where much of his offending took place. Matthew Woodgate has multiple convictions involving young children. In one horrific case, he lured an eight-year-old boy into a cubicle at Ashford’s Stour Centre, filmed and photographed him, and attempted to r*pe him. He was also convicted of breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order after engaging in lewd conversations with two eight-year-old boys at a swimming pool. A subsequent search of his computers uncovered further indecent images, including photographs and video of boys in the changing room. Woodgate had previously been arrested at 15 on suspicion of orally r*ping a seven-year-old boy. He received a final warning and was barred from unsupervised contact with children. His reported return to the area where he offended is understandably concerning for survivors and the wider community. Source UK Database.

🚨 DOMESTIC ABUSER JAILED FOR 27 MONTHS Connor Cragg, 28, of Ryde, Isle of Wight, dragged his partner of nine years to the ground, causing her to hit her head, before gripping her throat with both hands and strangling her until her body went limp. She feared he was going to kill her. Children were present during the attack on March 1. She escaped to her mother’s home with red marks around her neck. The assault left her mental health devastated, with the court hearing that she was driven to despair and self-harm. Cragg had also subjected her to controlling behaviour, checking her Facebook and Snapchat accounts and demanding she share her location whenever she went out. She was made to feel more like his maid than his partner. He initially denied intentional strangulation but changed his plea on the day his trial was due to begin. With 15 previous convictions covering 28 offences, Cragg was assessed as posing a high risk of violent reoffending. At Isle of Wight Crown Court on October 23, Recorder Malcolm Gibney sentenced him to 27 months in prison and imposed a 10-year restraining order. Source UK Database.

🚨 PAEDOPHILE WHO FILMED HIMSELF ABUSING A TODDLER JAILED FOR 14 YEARS Andrew McAdam, 36, of Mayfield, Edinburgh, sexually abused a baby aged between 12 and 18 months over five months, filming the abuse and sharing footage with another offender. But his offending went even further. The High Court in Glasgow heard that McAdam remotely encouraged and incited Connor Cashmore to rape a separate young boy in England. Cashmore was sentenced separately to 20 years in prison. McAdam was caught after a Greater Manchester Police investigation linked him to indecent images found on another offender’s phone. Police Scotland examined his devices and uncovered communications with multiple offenders, including encouragement to abuse children and the sharing of child sexual abuse material. His crimes also included sexual communications, sexual exposure and public indecency. He even filmed himself exposing himself on the upper deck of a bus in Edinburgh city centre. The toddler’s parents described the devastating impact on their family, including the fear of one day having to explain to their son what had been done to him. Lord Scott said McAdam had shown no convincing or meaningful remorse and had minimised his responsibility. The judge described his culpability and the harm caused as extremely high. McAdam admitted nine charges covering March 2023 to September 2024. He received an extended sentence of 14 years — ten-and-a-half years in custody followed by three-and-a-half years on licence. He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely and given an indefinite order prohibiting contact with his direct victim. A child barely out of infancy was subjected to prolonged sexual abuse, while the offender encouraged further abuse of another child. Source UK Database.

🚨 WOMAN, 64, JAILED FOR NINE YEARS AFTER GROOMING AND SEXUALLY ABUSING A BOY Tracy Bancroft, 64, of Filey, North Yorkshire, has been jailed for nine years and four months after admitting offences against a teenage boy she groomed and repeatedly sexually abused. York Crown Court heard Bancroft gave the boy a strong mixture of rum and juice before the first incident. He had little sexual knowledge, did not fully understand what was happening and froze in shock. Judge Simon Hickey said the abuse involved clear grooming and planning. The devastating impact on the victim has continued for years. His mother told the court she had repeatedly intervened to stop him taking his own life, describing the damage to his education, employment prospects and wellbeing. He kept the abuse secret for years before beginning to disclose it following a suicide attempt. A further year passed before he felt able to give police a statement. Bancroft showed no remorse, his mother told the court. She has also received a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, a lifetime requirement to remain on the sex offenders’ register and a lifetime ban on working with children or vulnerable adults. The order prohibits her from contacting the victim, posting about him on social media or having unsupervised contact with any boy. Source UK Database.

⚠️ SENSITIVE TRIAL CONTENT - READ WITH CAUTION ⚖️ A 13-month-old girl was subjected to physical and sexual abuse at the hands of her parents before she was fatally injured by her mother, a court has heard. The baby girl suffered a fractured skull, broken ribs, a broken arm and burns covering her face during an alleged campaign of abuse before her death The court heard both parents were known to social services and the police Prosecutors allege Isabella Stasiak was subjected to physical and sexual abuse and neglect by her parents, Kinga Wydrzynska, 26, and Michal Stasiak, 28. Both deny the charges against them. Warwick Crown Court heard Isabella had sustained serious injuries on different occasions over at least five weeks. Prosecutor Annabel Darlow KC said the baby suffered two separate episodes of major traumatic head injury, alongside broken bones and bruising. The prosecution alleges Wydrzynska inflicted the fatal head injury at the family home in Rugby, Warwickshire, when she was the only adult present. Jurors were told that, before seeking emergency help, she recorded a six-minute video beside her apparently lifeless daughter. The prosecution said the recording showed her adjusting camera angles and worrying about the consequences for herself. At points, Wydrzynska allegedly prodded and shook Isabella, who appeared floppy with her eyes closed, while repeatedly urging her to breathe. Prosecutors say she later deleted the recordings. The court heard she called 999 around 17 minutes after recording the videos. Isabella was taken to hospital but could not be saved. Isabella died in hospital after sustaining a series of injuries including a fractured skull and ribs, a broken arm and a burn to her entire face, the court was told. Jurors were told Isabella was born in December 2023 and immediately taken into the care of social services. After being placed in emergency accommodation, Isabella was looked after by foster parents for four months before she was returned to her parents in April 2024 – nine months before her death Wydrzynska denies murder. Both parents deny causing or allowing Isabella’s death, four counts of causing or allowing serious physical harm, two counts of assaulting a child under 13 by penetration and three counts of child cruelty. The trial continues. Source UK Database.

Today's contender for the long drop. 🚨 CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR RAPING A WOMAN IN HER OWN HOME — YEARS AFTER A PREVIOUS INDECENT ASSAULT CONVICTION. William McGuinness, 68, has been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison after a jury found him guilty of rape following a five-day trial at Bradford Crown Court. The victim described him as “overpowering”, saying she was left frightened and feeling violated, fearing what he might do. After the attack, she confided in another woman, who reported the incident to police. McGuinness, of no fixed abode in Bradford, denied the rape and even denied entering the woman’s home. The court heard that he had a previous indecent assault conviction in 2014, for which he was jailed and placed on the sex offenders register. Deputy Circuit Judge Timothy Clayson sentenced him to eight years and six months in prison and imposed a 12-year restraining order.

Witnesses watched as the terrified puppy tried to escape between parked cars. Lawford grabbed him, shook him, lifted him into the air and slammed him onto the pavement. Brandy appeared unconscious at one point. Then, in a shocking escalation, Lawford picked the young dog up by his back legs and tried to put him in a recycling bin as members of the public intervened. Brandy suffered bruising, abrasions and wounds consistent with the attack. A veterinary assessment also identified psychological trauma. Lawford denied wrongdoing and claimed witnesses had fabricated their accounts. However, he was convicted after the court heard witness evidence and viewed CCTV footage. The judge described the incident as an “appalling offence”. His punishment? A five-year animal ban — with the right to apply to have it lifted after just three years. He also received a two-year community order, including 120 days of alcohol abstinence monitoring, a £360 fine, £700 in costs and a £144 victim surcharge. For many, the question will be whether a ban that can potentially be lifted after three years offers sufficient protection for animals. Thankfully, Brandy survived. After being signed over to the RSPCA, he recovered and was eventually rehomed.

An important reminder of this case. 🚨 ANIMAL CRUELTY CONVICTION | AARON CHAPMAN, 29, BODMIN, CORNWALL Aaron Chapman brutally killed his pet cat, Lord Biris, after becoming enraged because the animal had eaten his cannabis. The self-employed builder and bodybuilder swung the defenceless cat around, repeatedly striking him against the floor. Despite the animal needing veterinary treatment, Chapman instead cut his throat in what the court described as a “deliberate and gratuitous act”. Witnesses were left horrified by the “most horrendous, vicious, assault” on the helpless animal. Chapman pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal between December 2018 and January 2019. He also admitted destroying a former partner’s mobile phone. Sentence: 18 weeks in prison. ⚖️ GROOMED AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTED A 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL — BUT 69-YEAR-OLD ESCAPES IMMEDIATE JAIL A 69-year-old delivery driver who groomed a 15-year-old schoolgirl and sexually assaulted her has walked free from immediate custody after receiving a suspended prison sentence. Michael Cooper, formerly an Evri delivery driver, kissed the girl on the lips and attempted to put his tongue in her mouth. She froze during the incident. Cooper later admitted sexual activity with a child. Police investigating in March 2024 seized his devices and discovered a message referring to his desire to have sex with the girl once she turned 16. The court heard he had become increasingly physical towards her, grew jealous when she entered a relationship and told her he was heartbroken. The victim said he repeatedly disregarded her boundaries and claimed his grooming was intended to boost her confidence and self-esteem. Recorder David Brock cited grooming, breach of trust and the significant age difference as aggravating factors. Despite this, Cooper, of no fixed abode, received 20 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, alongside 150 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation activity days. A sexual harm prevention order and restraining order were also imposed. Source UK Database.

🚨 REPEAT CHILD SEX OFFENDER | FORMER IMAM JAILED FOR 13 YEARS OVER RAPE OF SCHOOLBOY Mohammed Hanif Khan, 57, exploited his position as an imam at Suffa Tul Islam Mosque in Bradford to sexually abuse a schoolboy during the 1990s. The abuse took place at the mosque on Sunbridge Road and on a minibus. Khan exploited the trust of the boy’s family before telling his victim he would not be believed. Bradford Crown Court heard how Khan’s respectable appearance concealed his sexual interest in pubescent boys. The judge also highlighted missed opportunities to stop the abuse after mosque staff encountered suspicious circumstances but failed to report their concerns. Khan had previously been jailed for 16 years in 2011 for sexually assaulting two boys in Stoke-on-Trent in 2009. The Bradford abuse only came to light in 2019, more than two decades later. Khan pleaded guilty to rape on the first day of his trial. He was jailed for 13 years, with a further three years on licence following his release. Source UK Database.

When RSPCA inspectors and police forced entry, they found two underweight dogs, Major and Keanu, still alive — and two dead kittens. One kitten had been reduced to skeletal remains; the other was found headless. The court heard the starving dogs appeared to have resorted to eating the remains. The home was filthy, with an overwhelming smell of faeces, mouldy food and no food or water available. A veterinary expert concluded all four animals had suffered prolonged and unnecessary suffering. Richardson could have sought veterinary help or arranged care. Instead, the animals were left to suffer, and both kittens died. This was not her first conviction. In 2024, Richardson received a suspended sentence for fraudulently obtaining more than £143,000 from vulnerable elderly victims while working as a carer. Her latest sentence? 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, a £200 fine and an indefinite ban on keeping animals. Despite a previous fraud conviction and the prolonged suffering that led to two animals dying, she was not sent straight to prison. Thankfully, Major and Keanu survived and have since been rehomed.
