Over the past few weeks the team has made great progress locating eleven Corn Bunting nests. As part of our project monitoring nests across multiple sites, we hope to elucidate which habitats and management practices support the highest breeding productivity.

3 more juvenile Bearded Tits were caught amongst the 250+ birds at Oxwich Marsh, Gower today. That’s now 5 young birds of this newly arrived species ringed. Hopefully they will establish themselves here after a 30+ year absence 🤞. #BirdRinging #GowerBirds #BeardedTit

This female Redstart was a lovely surprise on a farm on the Downs today. They don't breed nearby so she is our first southward bound bird of the 'Autumn'. People always go mad when I say that but birders consider southward migration as Autumn migration - yes I know it's June!

What started as a normal Saturday morning, began for Ezra quite early (0430!!) as he finished his penultimate breeding bird survey of the year, and the later, the staff all saying goodbye to our guests from last week, and getting ready to clean the Lodge.

Yesterday’s session at Minsmere saw 54 birds processed, with the majority being this year’s juveniles, including our first juvenile Sedge Warblers. We also enjoyed the fresh emergence of Purple Hairstreak butterflies. Thanks to @vikingoptical for their continued support.

Due to upcoming poor weather, our Westleton Common ringing demonstration scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed and will now take place on Saturday 27th June. We hope to see you there and appreciate your understanding!
Join us for a bird ringing demonstration at Westleton Common on 17th June from 7:30am-9:30am. A chance to see resident and migratory species close up, learn about identification, ringing and the Nightingales and other species that call the site home.
Thanks to @vikingoptical

One of Britain's scarcest and most localised breeding waders, the Wood Sandpiper, with recently hatched young in a remote Highland peatland.

To the silly sausage who reported me to the police for taking birds out of nests! Please read the header description - licensed bird ringer! So here is a lovely brood of Buzzards we ringed yesterday. And of course we put them back in the nest! I need to keep posting to educate.
