Does Clayface 2026 have something to say or is it just body horror for the sake of it? In this Clayface movie clip from my full Clayface review, I break down how director James Watkins and writer Mike Flanagan use Matt Hagen's physical transformation as a metaphor for emotional damage, where the more unstable Tom Rhys Harries becomes, the less he can maintain his human face. It's a sharp take on how Hollywood treats people as disposable products when they're attractive and successful, but the screenplay never fully develops its corrupt institutions and supporting characters in this DCU Chapter One Gods and Monsters entry from James Gunn's DCU.

Directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan, this Tom Rhys Harries-led DCU Chapter One Gods and Monsters entry costs just $40M and leaves Batman at home, so is this DCU horror experiment better than Sony's Spider-Man spin-offs or just Darkman and The Fly without the style? The best part of Clayface 2026 isn't the body horror. In this Clayface movie clip from my full Clayface review, we follow Matt Hagen played by Tom Rhys Harries, a rising actor in Coast City, Hal Jordan's hometown, who is up for an Oscar against fake films called One Bad Day and No Man's Land before Gotham gangster Markos Szabo brutally disfigures him. When Dr. Caitlyn Corr played by Naomi Ackie offers him experimental nanotech straight out of Batman The Animated Series Feat of Clay, his face becomes his addiction. Directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan for James Gunn's DCU, this Batman villain origin is less about DC Studios horror and more about an actor who says acting is easier than being himself.

Mark Wahlberg was hoping to land a lead role in The Departed. According to him, when Martin Scorsese called to say he’d be playing Dignam, he hung up on him. He eventually accepted the part on the condition that he could improvise and “go at everybody” including Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio - the two stars who landed the parts he missed out on.
Wahlberg also revealed that Dignam and his wisecracks were partly inspired by Detective Stan “Wojo” Wojciehowicz, played by Max Gail in the cop sitcom Barney Miller. He combined that influence with cops and crooks he knew from his neighbourhood in Boston.
