🕳️ Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Thursday that the state had filled in 1 million potholes, transforming the annoying craters into “not-holes” ahead of winter. Hochul was in Hempstead on Long Island last weekend to fill in the 1 millionth hole near the Meadowbrook Parkway. “Potholes can’t run and they can’t hide, and we are finding them and putting them out of everyone’s misery,” the governor said in a statement. Of the 1 million potholes filled outside of New York City in recent months, there were 156,000 on Long Island and another 150,000 in the Hudson Valley. About 694,000 more were filled in upstate. Outside of New York City, motorists are urged to call 1-800-POTHOLE (1-800-768-4653) to report potholes on any State-owned highway, including the Thruway.
