The road that was once thought to be the impossible #ERITREA 🇪🇷 Bideho is a Tigrinya word, with literal English translation, meaning challenge. Bideho is also a frequently used Tigrinya terminology mostly used in doing the undoable, fixing the unfixable and challenging the unchallengeable. That is may be why the Bideho Construction Company is penetrating the impenetrable.
When the Italians colonized Eritrea in 1890, the Italians had to connect the highland plateaus of Asmara and its environs with the eastern lowlands of the Massawa port and of course other places of Eritrea with utmost strategic importance to the colonizers. That mission had to be done to meet the demands of the Italians and put the needed infrastructure well in place so as to maintain their stronghold in Eritrea. Looking from an angle of an onlooker the cliffs and the range of mountains seem human only could go through by means of flying objects. No way by foot or by vehicles. However, the unthinkable and the seemingly impossible has been penetrated. #ERITREA 🇪🇷

Ethiopia is hosting a secret camp to train thousands of fighters for the RSF paramilitary group in neighboring Sudan, Reuters reporting has found, in the latest sign that one of the world’s deadliest conflicts is sucking in regional powers from Africa and the Middle East.

Given all these war drums, I don’t quite understand what Addis Ababa stands to gain from this war. The obsession with access to the sea is puzzling. I heard Prime Minister Abiy saying that Ethiopia has a population of 130 million yet has no coastline, while three neighbouring countries, Somalia, Eritrea, and Djibouti, together have a population of less than 50 million, yet all have access to the sea, which he described as unfair. Is this an accusation against God for not giving Ethiopia a coastline, or a pre-emptive claim of a right to the sea simply because you believe it should have one?
I have reviewed the letter from Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs addressed to his Eritrean counterpart, and I understand it as a serious warning that could precede a formal declaration of war. The letter alleges that, in recent days, Eritrean armed forces have carried out incursions into Ethiopian territory along the “northeastern border” and have engaged in joint maneuvers with rebel groups along the “northwestern border.” If substantiated, such actions would represent a significant escalation and would merit condemnation. However, before drawing definitive conclusions, it is necessary to establish the accuracy of these claims. Therefore before any condemnation is issued, the Ethiopian government has a responsibility to substantiate its accusations. This requires specifying the precise border districts (weredas) allegedly crossed by Eritrean forces, rather than relying on broad and imprecise geographic references that invite uncertainty and speculation.

Demanding your sovereignty be respected while claiming a piece of Eritrea's in the same breath is peak Ethiopian foreign policy. Same country trying to break Sudan & Somalia into little pieces. Burden of this UAE colony now significantly outweighs it's benefits to the region.
⚠️ Ethiopia’s MFA 🇪🇹 says Eritrean troops 🇪🇷 have made incursions into Ethiopian territory along the north-eastern border (Tigray region), conducting joint military manoeuvres with rebel groups. It demands Eritrea immediately withdraw its troops & end all cooperation with rebels.

The Ethiopian FM mentions “maritime issues” as if there is an actual dispute, without clearly stating what Ethiopia seeks. Over the past three years and in this letter, through numerous conflicting claims, threats, and accusations, PP have so diluted the diplomatic substance that the letter no longer feels like a genuine invitation to meaningful dialogue. For it to be taken seriously, PP must make clear affirmations of respect for Eritrean sovereign territory. If there are accusations against Eritrea, a clearer message would specify all areas allegedly occupied by Eritrean forces and precisely state what Ethiopia is requesting regarding port services; if that is indeed the goal. Were such a clear and honest letter to be written by PP, it would by default clear the ground possible discussions that lead to good neighbourliness. Otherwise, the letter appears as a not-so-subtle attempt to slip in a demand for Eritrea to compromise its territorial integrity under the guise of maritime discussions and to evacuate sovereign territories awarded to it by the EEBC. Nonetheless, let us hope this letter, however disingenuous, is a first in a series of deescalations. Let us also hope PFDJ does not reply with one of its equally opaque press releases.
Ethiopia FM @GHessebon issued a new warning letter to Eritrea, demanding the withdrawal of Eritrean troops from Tigray, and to cease any collaboration with presumably TPLF. Last warning?
