Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Amjad Hussain Friday announced plans to organise a special tourism expo to attract Canadian tourists and investors to the region.
“We will organise a special expo to promote GB’s tourism potential,” the chief minister said during a meeting with Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan Tariq Ali Khan.

Six Years Later: A Facebook Memory, A Political Journey and an Interview!
Facebook surfaced this memory today, taking me back six years to the time when I interviewed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during his visit to Gilgit as part of the election campaign.
We had a wonderful interaction and a memorable interview. However, despite the campaign efforts, Pakistan Peoples Party could not win the election at the time.
Six years on, a lot has changed. Bilawal's political journey has moved forward, and PPP is in power in Gilgit-Baltistan, with Amjad Hussain Advocate as Chief Minister.
Funny how Facebook memories bring back moments that remind us how much can change with time.

گلگت بلتستان میں 18 برس بعد بلدیاتی انتخابات کا مرحلہ شروع ہوگیا ہے، پہلے مرحلے میں گلگت، سکردو اور چلاس میونسپل کارپوریشنز کے لیے 5 دسمبر 2026ء کو پولنگ ہوگی، جس کے لیے کاغذات نامزدگی کی جانچ پڑتال کا عمل مکمل ہوگیا ہے۔
الیکشن کمیشن کے مطابق تینوں میونسپل کارپوریشنز کے 21 وارڈز کی 76 نشستوں کے لیے 485 امیدواروں نے کاغذات نامزدگی جمع کئے، جن میں سے 465 کے منظور اور 20 امیدواروں کے کاغذات مسترد ہوگئے ہیں۔
شیڈول کے مطابق 3 اور4 نومبر کو منظور یا مسترد ہونے والے کاغذات کے خلاف اپیلیں جمع اور 5 سے 10 نومبر تک ان اپیلوں پر فیصلے ہونگے۔
امیدواروں کی نظرثانی فہرست 11 نومبر کو جاری ہوگی، جبکہ کاغذاتِ نامزدگی واپس لینے کی آخری تاریخ 12 نومبر اور اسی روز امیدواروں کی حتمی فہرست جاری ہوگی۔ انتخابی نشانات 13 نومبر کو الاٹ اور 5 ستمبر 2026ء کو پولنگ ہوگی۔
