*राजा को बर्बाद करने वाले 18 व्यसन - मनुस्मृति ने 5000 साल पहले ही बता दिया था!*
मनुस्मृति के सातवें अध्याय को राजधर्म कहा जाता है। इसमें मनु महाराज कहते हैं कि राजा को अपनी इंद्रियों को जीतना होगा, नहीं तो राज्य नष्ट हो जाता है।
*मूल श्लोक:*
> *दश कामसमुत्थानि तथाष्टौ क्रोधजानि च।*
> *व्यसनानि दुरन्तानि प्रयत्नेन विवर्जयेत् ॥ 7.45 ॥*
*अनुवाद:* काम से उत्पन्न होने वाले दस और क्रोध से उत्पन्न होने वाले आठ, ऐसे अठारह दुरन्त व्यसनों को राजा को प्रयत्नपूर्वक त्याग देना चाहिए।
*1. कामज 10 दोष (इच्छा/भोग से पैदा होने वाले) - श्लोक 7.47*
> *मृगयाक्षो दिवास्वप्नः परिवादः स्त्रियो मदः।*
> *तौर्यत्रिकं वृथाट्या च कामजो दशको गणः ॥ 7.47 ॥*
अनुवाद:
1. *मृगया (शिकार)* - निर्दोष जीवों को मारना
2. *अक्ष (जुआ)* - धन और समय का नाश
3. *दिवास्वप्न (दिन में सोना)* - आलस्य
4. *परिवाद (परनिंदा)* - दूसरों की बुराई करना
5. *स्त्रियः (परस्त्री आसक्ति)*
6. *मदः (मद्यपान)*
7. *तौर्यत्रिक (गायन, वादन, नृत्य में अति आसक्ति)*
8. *वृथाट्या (वृथा भ्रमण/घूमना)*
और दो छूटे हुए हैं जो इसी में गिने जाते हैं - *ईर्ष्या और काम में अति लोलुपता* को कुछ टीकाकार जोड़ते हैं, पर मनु के मुख्य श्लोक में ऊपर के 8 के साथ मद और स्त्री को अलग-अलग गिनकर 10 पूरे होते हैं।
*2. क्रोधज 8 दोष (गुस्से से पैदा होने वाले) - श्लोक 7.48*
> *पैशुन्यं साहसं द्रोह ईर्ष्यासूयार्थदूषणम्।*
> *वाग्दण्डजं च पारुष्यं क्रोधजोऽपि गणोऽष्टकः ॥ 7.48 ॥*
अनुवाद:
1. *पैशुन्यं (चुगलखोरी)*
2. *साहसं (बिना सोचे दुस्साहसिक कार्य)*
3. *द्रोह (द्रोह/विश्वासघात)*
4. *ईर्ष्या*
5. *असूया (दूसरों के गुणों में दोष देखना)*
6. *अर्थदूषणम् (प्रजा के धन का हरण/भ्रष्टाचार)*
7. *वाक् पारुष्य (कठोर वाणी/गाली)*
8. *दण्ड पारुष्य (बिना अपराध के कठोर दंड देना)*
*सबसे खतरनाक कौन से हैं?*
> *पानमक्षाः स्त्रियश्चैव मृगया च यथाक्रमम्।*
> *एतत्कष्टतमं विद्यात् चतुष्कं कामजे गणे ॥ 7.50 ॥*
> *दण्डस्य पातनं चैव वाक्पारुष्यार्थदूषणे।*
> *क्रोधजेऽपि गणे विद्यात् त्रिविधं कष्टतमं भवेत् ॥ 7.51 ॥*
अर्थ: कामज में मद्यपान, जुआ, स्त्री-आसक्ति और शिकार सबसे घातक हैं। क्रोधज में कठोर दंड, कठोर वाणी और धन हड़पना सबसे घातक हैं।
ये 18 दोष राजा के धर्म, राज्य और यश तीनों को नष्ट कर देते हैं। यही आज के नेताओं के लिए भी सबसे बड़ी चेतावनी है।
