It is cold, it is rainy, and the wind is biting. Nobody deserves to have to deal with this for days, let alone years, trying to find a safe place to sleep. Give, give, give. If you have a warm and safe place to sleep tonight, give something.
It took one night of rain for entire displacement camps in Gaza to flood. Urgent help needed: chuffed.org/project/113222-t…
This morning, tens of thousands of families are facing another day of rain without shelter. The tents they slept in yesterday are underwater. The streets they would use to reach help are flooded and impassable.
We knew the tents were fragile. Even so, we were unprepared for this much destruction after the first rainfall. Families are still soaking wet, trying to salvage what they can and figure out where they’ll sleep tonight.
Please donate to The Sameer Project’s winter response and help us get emergency shelter to families who lost theirs overnight. Give to our General Fund: chuffed.org/project/113222-t…

A brutal reminder how little it matters that the rhetoric about Gaza has changed to recognize the horrors inflicted upon it.
People cannot be expected to live like this, and the responsibility for these conditions is with both the U.S. and Israel.

Gaza emergency services issue urgent call as winter downpours submerge displacement camps
——
Gaza’s civil defense agency issued an urgent appeal for international mobilization on Saturday after a severe winter storm swept through the enclave, submerging entire displacement camps and destroying makeshift shelters housing hundreds of thousands of forcibly displaced Palestinians.
Emergency crews reported receiving over 1,500 distress calls across the Gaza Strip as torrential rain and strong winds swept away makeshift canvas tents and brought floodwaters inside temporary shelters.
The agency warned that civil defense personnel are unable to manage the compounding crisis due to the deliberate Israeli blockade preventing the entry of heavy machinery, water pumps, fuel, and replacement shelter supplies.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, the civil defense director stressed that women and children are currently stranded in flooded camps as floodwaters drown encampments and destroy family belongings.
Humanitarian groups emphasize that the catastrophe is a direct consequence of ongoing Israeli restrictions on basic relief materials and infrastructure rehabilitation following months of widespread destruction, leaving over 90 percent of Gaza's population exposed to severe winter weather in dilapidated and unsealed shelters.

To put it briefly, the situation is devastating. Most of the displacement camps surrounding our clinic are completely flooded.
Since this morning, families whose tents have been swallowed by the rain have been coming to our clinic, carrying their cold, shivering children in their arms, desperately looking for a dry place to shelter and somewhere to keep their little ones warm.

Footage of the aftermath of the Saudi airstrike on the al-Qahm residence using an MK.82 on October 18th in Saada. Report by Al-Masirah.
💢On October 18, a Saudi-led coalition aircraft dropped a US-supplied 500-pound MK-82 bomb on a home sheltering 28 people in Saada, northern Yemen, according to a New York Times investigation.
Nine members of the al-Qahm family, including five children under the age of 10, were killed, and another 19 people were wounded, according to witnesses. The death toll and victims’ identities were corroborated by a casualty list provided by the Health Ministry in Sana’a.
The Times analyzed footage from the scene and satellite imagery, finding no evidence of Ansarallah forces or fortifications within half a mile of the family’s home. Yet a spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition accused the family of “directly supporting the war effort.”
Ansarallah’s military spokesperson announced today that Saudi airstrikes and missile strikes have reached 4,264 since the latest escalation began.

Believe me, if you were to live with us in Gaza for just one single day,
you would spend the rest of your life kissing the walls of your home, weeping with gratitude for the blessing of your own bed, and thanking God for every night in which you do not have to wait for death.
