Some franchises aren’t capable of supporting their legends the right way.
Jokic was on a path to becoming one of the Top 10 players to ever play basketball.
That wasn’t realistic in Denver.
AWESOME cut @olympicbean
THANK YOU for this 🙏❤️🫡

Glen Powell says Tom Cruise convinced him to stay on Top Gun: Maverick after he lost the role of Rooster.
Rich Eisen : “You originally auditioned for the role of Rooster in Top Gun: Maverick.”
Glen Powell : “That’s true.”
“I felt great about the audition.”
“Then I got the call that I wasn’t going to be Rooster.”
“I was literally wearing an American flag tank top and aviators.”
“I immediately ended up in the fetal position.”
“It was the worst Fourth of July ever.”
“A few days later, Tom Cruise called me and said, ‘I still want you to do the movie.’”
“I wasn’t sure I wanted to anymore.”
“He and Jerry Bruckheimer invited me to sit down and talk.”
“Tom asked me, ‘What kind of career do you want?’”
“I said, ‘Yours. I’m trying to be you.’”
“He said, ‘Do you know how I do that?’”
“I said, ‘You choose great roles.’”
“He said, ‘No. I choose great movies, and I make the roles great.’”
“That completely changed my perspective.”
“Even being a small part of the Top Gun ride has changed my life forever.”
Bigger crime than Kobe Bryant having only 1 NBA MVP…and that is REALLY saying something. Tom Cruise…ZERO academy awards. What a joke. The Oscar means NOTHING if Cruise doesn’t have one.
Academy Award nominations earned by @TomCruise: 0
Academy Award nominations earned by others for his films: 55
Academy Awards **won** by others for movies Tom Cruise starred in: 8
...including Best Actor (twice), Best Director (twice), Best Picture, and Best Supporting Actor.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Tom Cruise has 4 Academy Award nominations, for his appearances in Born On The Fourth Of July, Jerry Maguire and Magnolia, and for producing Top Gun: Maverick

Living through and experiencing an actual GOAT career has been SPECIAL.
In 1981, Tom Cruise was on screen for less than a minute. He played a teenager who cheerfully confesses to setting a house on fire, he had tried out for the lead and lost it, and almost nobody noticed him. The movie was Endless Love. He was 19.
More than four decades later, his films have made over $13.3 billion worldwide, putting him among the highest grossing actors who have ever lived.
Risky Business in 1983 made him a name. Top Gun in 1986 made him a movie star. Then came Rain Man, Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire, and Ethan Hunt in the first Mission: Impossible in 1996. He holds the Guinness World Record for the most $100 million movies in a row, eleven straight, from 2012 to 2025. In 2022, at 59, he made Top Gun: Maverick. It earned $1.49 billion, the biggest film of his career, and his own share came to around $100 million from a single movie.
The stunts are the part he is known for, and each one is more dangerous than the last.
In 2000 he climbed a 2,000 foot rock face in Australia on a single safety cable. In 2011 he climbed the outside of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building on Earth, more than 1,700 feet up. In 2015 he strapped himself to the side of a military plane and rode it past 1,000 feet in the air, eight separate times, and for another scene he learned to hold his breath underwater for six minutes. In 2018 he jumped from a plane at 25,000 feet, falling at 200 miles an hour, then broke his ankle on a rooftop jump and finished the shot before he stopped.
In 2023, at 60, he rode a motorcycle off a Norwegian cliff and parachuted down. To be sure he would not miss, he did over 500 skydives and more than 13,000 practice jumps on a dirt bike, drilling it for a year. He went off the cliff six times in one day. At 62 he hung from a 1940s biplane and climbed between its wings mid flight, the last stunt of the Mission: Impossible films, which together have made $4.35 billion.
This past November he was given an Honorary Oscar.
Now he is 63. In Digger, out October 2, he disappears under heavy makeup, a fake nose, and a thick Southern accent to play an old oil baron whose company may have caused a global disaster. Alejandro Iñárritu directs, and early buzz calls it a real awards contender. If it works, it could earn Cruise his first acting Oscar nomination since 2000.
The 19 year old who barely made the final cut of a 1981 romance is now chasing a very different prize.
What we just witnessed in the @MiamiHEAT and @WashWizards game is a disgrace to basketball history. Everyone involved with that atrocity should be ashamed of themselves and investigated @NBA

This is unmitigated INSANITY by the voting media. Belichick is no doubt a detestable figure with his fair share of controversies. But no coach has ever deserved first ballot more. Now no coach should ever be first ballot again.
Bill Belichick, the 8-time Super Bowl-winning HC, is not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, per @SethWickersham and @DVNJr. Belichick fell short of the 40 out of 50 votes needed for induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

Drake Maye had a 58 QB rtg yesterday and is going to the #SuperBowl
Matt Stafford had a 127 QB rating and is going home.
There are actually losers that will say, “wRoNg GuY wOn ThE mVp” if Stafford takes home that trophy next week and point to the fact Maye is in the SB 🤡
Great stat and a terrible way for Stafford to go out especially since the other “MVP candidate” Drake Maye is going to SB after passing for 80 yards and putting 10 points on the board…
But 1 of those games Brady lost was in a Super Bowl he had 505 yards, 3 tds and 0 ints in LOL
One of my favorite appearances yet with @jasonwhitlock
.@SkapAttack pointed out that Jeanie Buss joins a long list of children ruining the sports franchises their parents owned. She's in good company.
The generational Texans defense couldn’t overcome the generational bum QB play by CJ Stroud….and the generationally weak Patriots path to the Super Bowl continues next week with the Jarrett Stidham led Broncos in the AFC title game #NFLPlayoffs
This likely WAS a catch and it would have won the game for the Bills. But they still played down to their opponent and turned it over 4 other times minus this one. Hard to win road playoff games without valuing the ball.
As great as Josh Allen has been at times during his career, FOUR turnovers in a 3 point overtime loss is inexcusable. He activated BUM MODE tonight and now there must be consequences…namely, and speaking of BUMS, his trash can head coach HAS to be fired #buffalovsdenver
Thanks @olympicbean 🙏. As always, MY PLEASURE to take up for the late, great Kobe Bryant 💪 🐍 🐐
