34 - Fleetwood Town eliminating Arsenal is the first time a fourth-tier side has knocked out the reigning English champions in a domestic cup since Wrexham beat ... Arsenal 34 years ago in the FA Cup (1992). Shell-shocked.

Jay Lynch sounds like a gritty man. Tbf Salford -> Fylde -> Rochdale -> Fleetwood is a properly gritty career. 🫡
"My voice is GONE!" Jay Lynch reacts to Fleetwood Town knocking Arsenal out of the Carabao Cup! 🔥

Illan Meslier there like vintage Raya diving out of the way early. Anyway, bad couple of days for Arsenal but, most importantly, the incredible 12-match run of London games remains intact! (24 Nov 2026 -> 5 Jan 2027)
FLEETWOOD HAVE DONE IT! 🤯 One of the biggest upsets we’ve ever seen as @ftfc knock out the Premier League Champions on penalties! 🏆 #EFL | #CarabaoCup

I hope they invited Shilton. I really do.
Him showing that off and his 126th cap ceremony before kick off against Croatia, gonna have to get there about 20 mins before kickoff ffs

Unai Simon started every game at the World Cup ahead of David Raya. The Spain coaching staff must be rewarding… I mean, they couldn’t have possibly objectively thought that Simon was better, could they?
Star power is increasingly positioned as Premier League players going to ply their trade in underpowered leagues, for teams with an outrageous financial advantages. PSG’s commercial revenue is 5x that of second-place Marseille Bayern have won 15 of the last 20 Bundesliga titles Barca and Madrid revenue is €2bn combined, and the next best, Atleti, is at €454m These awards reward the glitz of beating up on the little teams... and WC runs (Unai Simon). Feels like an intentional tax on Premier League success vs a damning indictment on a lack of stars or interest.

Yes, the World Cup winners’ back-up goalie missing out to the World Cup winners’ ever-present starting goalie is a total unmitigated farce. 🫡
My ability to take the Ballon d'Or seriously vanished when Henry was continuously overlooked for it, but Raya missing out to Simon this year only underlines again how farcical the whole thing can be.

There was a mixed zone once where a young Kane first mentioned reaching the level of the very best in the game. It took us by surprise but then Kane was underestimated all the way through. Orient, Millwall, Norwich, Leicester, Spurs, Bayern, Ballon d’Or. Some run that. Fair play

2 - Only two players from Europe’s top-five leagues have reached 70+ goals across club and country in a single season this century: Lionel Messi in 2011/12 (82 goals) Harry Kane in 2025/26 (73 goals) Virtuosos.

Nicely put. Just feels so right.
Amid the egos that can go out of control with the Ballon D’Or, Kane is a good, diligent, hard-working - and exceptionally talented - professional. Actually feels a bit of a winner from another era, in a good way.

‘Cos they started asking for an immediate retreat & Stalin really wasn’t convinced they’ve done enough/any prep. It’s not hard.
Why did Stalin sack Budenny and forbid Kirponos from retreating as the trap closed?

Bearing in mind that Zhukov spent weeks failing to capture Yelnya, to the extent that he had to stop & regroup before the final push, maybe, von Bock did the rational thing after inflicting enough damage? In a way, Yelnya foreshadowed Zhukov’s repeated & bloody failures @ Rzhev.
Why did Bock decide to abandon the Yelnya Salient after weeks of bloody fighting?

(listens to episode 3) Do we really find out more? @almurray: “…so there's a dash of good luck and swift action on the part of two junior officers in Third Panzer, who grabbed the bridge early intact on the 26th.” I mean, 🤷 PS When using a stock photo… it was a road bridge

So, @james1940 0:34-0:39: - Budyonny warns: “Withdrawal of Southwestern Front will lead to losses in men and a large quantity of equipment.” In fact, Budyonny warns: “DELAY in withdrawal of Southwestern Front will lead to losses in men and a large quantity of equipment.”🤯 (8/n)

(correcting a typo) Et voilà, la pièce de résistance. @james1940 0:34-0:39: - Budyonny warns: “Withdrawal of Southwestern Front will lead to losses in men and a large quantity of equipment” Has anyone on @WeHaveWaysPod bothered to check whether this makes any sense? (7/n)
