I presided over today's plenary session of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly, which featured important legislative deliberations. A major highlight was the reading of a letter from His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, notifying the House of his intention to present the 2027 Appropriation Bill on November 10, 2026. The proposed budget, being the final budget cycle of this administration, provides another opportunity to consolidate the gains of the Omituntun 2.0 development agenda and sustain the delivery of people-oriented projects and programmes across Oyo State. The House also advanced the Oyo State Medical Residency Training Bill, 2025, through its third reading, while the Oyo State Open Rearing and Grazing Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, was considered for second reading. In furtherance of our oversight and representative responsibilities, we considered the deplorable condition of rural roads across the 33 Local Government Areas, calling for immediate grading of rural roads. We also deliberated on the need to curb the deliberate covering of vehicle registration number plates, a practice that undermines public safety, effective security surveillance and the enforcement of traffic regulations. – at Ibadan, Nigeria
