Every part of this post is absolutely correct.
They gave up on a growing young core less than a year in? Melo, Miller and Kon was supposed to be their trio and the oldest of them in LaMelo was still only 24 years old.
The Hornets FO didn’t have enough info to know the ceiling of Miller or Kon (specifically Kon) and when they traded Melo they traded him for a barebones return, a gimmick player on a bad contract and 1 unprotected 1st (this is valuable but not as valuable as melo). Not like the franchise was particularly pick poor either.
Now you’re at the point where Brandon Miller who has heavily benefited from playing with Melo in his career has to get it out of the mud every single night and you’ve already given him the bag you as a franchise claimed Melo wasn’t worth.
Let’s not forget that Charles Lee’s offensive system is literally specialized around having a point guard like LaMelo, the front office basically sent their HC (who I thought was a rising star) out to dry.

There's no defending this trade. You take a step back by getting rid of old players, not your best young player
I really don’t understand Hornets fans anger towards their front office… they clearly sent a message that they didn’t believe the team was good enough to compete with the Knicks/Spurs/OKC of the league. Wanted to take a step back this year for the following years. Why panic after 5-8 games? Next year will be the judgement
