When I asked my company for a $5,000 salary increase, HR laughed at me.
The HR manager looked at me and said, “You should be grateful you even have a job. There are hundreds of people outside who would gladly take your position.”
I didn’t argue. I simply returned to my desk and continued working.

“I’m not accepting your rent,” the landlord told his tenant.
The tenant, Daniel, stared at him. “Sir, you said I had until Friday. Today is Thursday.”
“I know what I said. I’m telling you not to pay.”
Daniel had lived in the apartment for three years. He had never missed a payment, never fought with the neighbors, and had even paid for repairs when the landlord was unavailable.
“Did I do something wrong?” he asked.
The landlord looked uncomfortable. “My daughter is getting married. I need this apartment for her and her husband.”
“You want me to leave?”
“I’ll give you back your deposit. Find somewhere else.”
Daniel reminded him that finding another apartment required time and money. The landlord offered him an extra $200 to move out within two weeks.
Daniel accepted the money but asked for one thing: a written agreement confirming his departure date.
