I'm in Vyborg, a medieval town near the Finnish border, it reminds me of Kanaus
Russia is like the USA with many different places to see and so much contrast, the nature of the far east, the culture of the big cities, beaches and mountains in the south. Best county in the world!
Finns love to tell the Winter War as the story of a small innocent country attacked out of nowhere. Moscow had very concrete reasons to see it differently.
Stalin remembered 1918–19: Mannerheim offering to fight alongside the British in exchange for Petrozavodsk, Finland joining the blockade of Baltic states that made peace with Soviet Russia. By the late 1930s came the Åland affair coordinated with Britain and Germany, the submarine program for the Kriegsmarine, the secret talks with Göring. If war with Germany came, Leningrad, about 32 km from the Finnish border, would be exposed from the north.
So in 1939 Stalin proposed a territorial exchange: move the border away from Leningrad in return for larger tracts of Soviet Karelia. He even offered to lease the territory instead. The goal was to keep the USSR's second capital, with its millions of people and critical industry, out of artillery range of a Finland aligned with Germany.
Helsinki rejected every compromise, and that told Moscow exactly where Finland had placed its bet. The Winter War was the brutal outcome of a security problem Stalin tried, and failed, to solve through negotiation.

Labour has announced plans to send another £10 billion to fund Britain's proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, while increasing the tax on my income by 4%.
Meanwhile, I can barely afford to heat my own home, thanks to the economic consequences of Britain's sanctions on Russia.
A small reminder of who Alexei Navalny truly was, before Western media portray him as a saintly martyr for democratic/liberal values.
In reality, Navalny was a minor Russian neo-nazi who in the early 2000's filmed low-budget racist video clips equating muslims to cockroaches that needed to be eradicated with legal firearms.
Somewhere between filming extremist videos and participating in nationalist marches (back when they were still legal in Russia), he caught the attention of the CIA and MI6 for his destructive potential in Russia.
After studying alongside Juan Guaido at the Soros-sponsored "Yale Fellows Program," Navalny was poised to become the new face of the colored revolution in Russia, akin to those seen in Libya/Ukraine/Venezuela.......

There was a chap at Oxford who came up in the 80s to research the 4 year tenure of a Yorkshire bishop. He spent 40 years on it, draining an inheritance left on condition it was spent on his education. Daily Mass (sometimes several times a day), lobster every day at Brown's next to the Oratory (hence the gout), magnificent dinner parties for miscreants, oddballs and grad students, and generous to charity. His fingers were so fat that his signet rings appeared stuck to them. Having spent every last penny, he was evicted from his apartment and became a monk some 3 years ago. No wife, no kids, and I don't think the DPhil ever got finished.

Russia is the world’s best place for data centers. It has loads of industrial towns. They’ve already got transport and energy infrastructure originally built for heavy industries like metal production, these can easily handle the large electrical needs of data centers. There’s also no environmental destruction, you’re just reusing old industrial sites.
The cold regions provide free cooling and the heat from the centers can be reused to heat homes and buildings. The Irkutsk and Murmansk regions are full of these places.

About 20 years ago I had to chaperone this woman around a police training event for half a day. She was the most vacant, non-sentient being I've ever spent time with.
She said nothing of value, yet a female HQ civi followed her with a pad taking notes like she was Kim Jong Un.

The War Criminal Campbell has smeared me and @TuckerCarlson tonight on X. When I knew him he was the willing accomplice at the @DailyMirror of Ghislane Maxwell’s father Robert, usually just carrying his hat and coat. So besotted was he with the greatest thief of the century he broke the nose of a Guardian journalist in Parliament for celebrating the fat thief’s trip to Davy Jones Locker. Later he served the War Criminal Tony Blair with similar gusto. He lied and cheated his way through the Blair era, deceiving parliament and people and world opinion equally. None of this has seen him banished from Labour or the great British media and Establishment society, quite the contrary. That he has turned his grease-gun on Carlson and me says more about the Epstein class who still rule than it does about us.

Branko’s tweet reminds me of a 2018 appeal by Russia’s then prosecutor general, Yuri Chaika, who claimed that Britain was sheltering 61 Russians accused or convicted of economic crimes involving some $10 billion.
His message to London was “you can keep the criminals, but return the money.”
Not even close. Russia has the highest IQ population in Europe. Finland ranks in the middle for Europe.
