If you could get a 1st for him I entertain the idea. But I don’t think you can. And if you can’t, then you’re better off holding onto him and rolling the dice on being able to move him in his UFA year
Varlamov has had one good game as an Islander this season.
This fucking feel good comeback campaign bullshit needs to stop. He’s put the Isles in fucking awful spots almost every game he’s played.
Its crazy and people won't accept it but Varlamovs been an excellent goaltender for the #Isles so far this season. The problem against great teams is the Isles just simply get outplayed. Wild game for Sorokin was a massive exception to the rule so far. Isles work hard though.
Maybe I’m in the minority here but I don’t give a damn if Schaefer plays a half hour a night. Doughty did the same thing. He’s 19yo. He needs about 14 hours to fully recover. The difference between playing 26 mins and 30 mins is like 100 calories. He’ll be fine.
Also, the canes are the best team in the league and reigning champs. Schaefer is still 19yo. Makar, Quinn, Miro, even Seider are going to get exposed by the canes.
Also, I don’t know why there isn’t more talk about PDB starting his back up goalie on 3/4 days of team rest where the starter should absolutely be playing. Both games, said back up gives up 2 quick goals which forces you to play catch up the rest of the night, which is why Schaefer gets put out for 30 mins. If our backup goalie would stop giving up 2 goals on the first 3 shots he sees every game, you’d see less of the panic minutes.
These minutes have to come down. I'm going to get killed for this but last night he was on the business end of a few of the Canes goals. For valid reasons from Day 1 we took the governor off Schaefer but I think there needs to be the beginnings of some coaching up. #Isles
This is a very good thing and I’m glad the move is being made.
My question is, how was Palmieri and Schenn stuffed on this PP1 from training camp? How and why was that decision made? It’s a surprise to absolutely nobody the result we got from them.
#Isles changing some PP personnel: QB-LW-RW-B-N
PP1: Schaefer-Eklund-Holmstrom-Horvat-Schenn
PP2: DeAngelo-Heineman-Duclair-Palat-Palmieri
That’s really really bad mistake that can’t happen at the NHL level.
#isles
PDB has every reason to absolutely blow his stack here. That's an insane whistle. Just an insane whistle. There's no way they're going to manufacture something here instead of admit they fucked up here.
Puck line was never in doubt. Good fight by the Isles. Shame Varly refuses to play first periods. Should’ve never been in the game to begin with. That’s on Deboer.
This powerplay is so bad it’s infuriating we continue to run this unit out and make zero changes to this fucking awful entry scheme.
Bro that Stankoven goal might be one of the worst goals I’ve ever seen an NHL goalie give up. Jeeze man
I’m not sure how you can argue the election outcome was priced in and then also say the sentiment shift, and impending liquidation, was due to the newly elected officials threatening the tech sector. If it was priced in, then we wouldn’t see this drastic of a liquidation. Because we knew the democrats would come after the AI world.
On today's stock market crash:
As an investor, on days like today, you have to ask yourself one question: What fundamentally changed over the last 24 hours?
The shift in the fundamental backdrop cannot be attributed solely to the Midterm Election results; markets had already largely priced in the outcome.
So, what changed between yesterday and today? What is the fundamental reason for today's decline?
One of the most likely catalysts is growing concern about a potential "ban" on AI, or at the very least, severe regulation of the industry.
Over the last 24 hours, Democratic lawmakers have publicly called for restrictions on advanced AI development, including an outright "ban on artificial superintelligence."
Frankly, an outright ban will not happen.
Such a ban, if even possible to enforce, would effectively mean the US surrendering its position in the global AI race to China.
Does this mean AI is "over" or today's stock market crash marks "the end?" Absolutely not.
Rather, we believe we are witnessing a sudden shift in sentiment colliding with excessive levels of leverage, potentially triggering forced liquidations by several major institutional investors.
Therefore, today's downturn is more technical than fundamental. This is not to discount the concerns around regulation, they are legitimate. But price action right now does not look orderly or rational.
We are in the midst of the biggest technological revolution in human history.
Zoom out and remain calm.
Nice. All those middle ground and independent voters that are too short sighted and thought life was so bad they had to vote blue are going to learn real quickly just how bad they didn’t have it.
I’m financially prepared to withstand a recession. I hope you are too
It may not have been a terribly fun and exciting offseason, but the good news is tonight we finally have #Isles hockey again!
